Help please,
i took out a loan with ppi in circa 1994/5, it was a bad loan which i repaid a couple of years later with another loan, when i asked for a settlement figure it was higher than expected and was informed that the ppi was paid upfront to a third party and therefore could not be recovered. In effect i had paid for 10 years worth of ppi for a period of approx 2 years.
the questions i have are:
is it too far in the past to make a claim?
if not, how can i obtain details of the loan? will there be a record anywhere?
It's not too far but it depends on who sold it to you, and whether they were regulated, and whether they have retained copies of any information and whether they are still trading.
The third one is highly unlikely so your complaint is probably already over.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Hi, as I have just said in my previous post above
It is one thing that you ticked the box .... but .... did they contact you to fully explain the policy and to ensure it was suitable for your needs, were you given a "cool off" period, did they send you a copy of the policy, if you have the policy to check, in the event of a claim, would you be covered given your circumstances.
Contact them again if you feel they were not behaving in your best interests
The same applies to you
Hi again, just want to say thank you very much for your comments. FOS have upheld both my complaints due to not selling correctly, as they should have contacted me to explain once they had received my paper application. Also the fact that I received 6 months full pay 6 months half, so thanks again.:T0 -
Hiya Amersall,
It's me again. So sorry for being a pest but just a couple of more points that I forgot to mention.
I paid the loan off in full in 2006. They gave me the refund and have also said that they have contacted FOS who have told them they are in agreement and FOS that felt this is now settled.
I haven't contacted FOS to verify this yet. Is it worth me contacting FOS first or just pursuing the rest of the money as you have suggested?
Thank you very much for all your assistance.:D
Write back to both of them , put why you accepted this initial figure, use what I said in my post, ask that this be reconsidered due to the above points.0 -

What year did the second loan end? if it was within the last 6 years they should be able to find this, if they do then ask them to look at the loan that you paid off with this second loan and the PPI that was rebated and and the remaining PPI paid back in the settlement figure for this.0 -

Hello one and all,
Help required for a forum and moneysaving newbie!
I have today received a reply from NRAM regarding my letter (sent 4/12/12) requesting a copy of my credit agreement of a loan from 2003
I have a couple of things I would appreciate some help with...
1
The agreement does not have my name or the loan APR, or indeed anything that proves its from my original agreement. Shouldnt it show these details?
2
The loan amount was for £13900 over 48 months and (I think!) the APR was 5.9%
The opening balance from the statement of account on the day of the loan was £17059.20. The statement shows no more info than my monthly payments of £355.40 per month. How do I know if I had PPI on it? I have entered the details into a loan repayment calculator online today, it says the repayments would be £325.80 - total paid £15638.0 -

Do remember you'll need valid mis-selling reasons. It's not enough that you may have had a PPI policy.0 -
Thanks Moneyineptitude,
Thanks for replying.
I genuinely dont remember requesting it, and I certainly didnt know they added interest to it. I just know I was relieved at the time for getting the loan, as it was the start of my downward spiral, which I am attempting to clamber out of now!0
