I received the copy letter in the post today and it said....
"I am unable to establish that you were provided with sufficient details to make an informed decision (....) we would like to offer £2790.27 as a refund of all premiums for the full term of the loan"

they have also included interest at 8%.

I phoned them earlier, explained that i had never received the letter they sent in 2009 and was told by them that i could still send the acceptance letter to them as they could see that the claim had not been paid out all i have to include is a photocopy of marriage certificate to prove the change of name and i'll have the cheque within 10 days!!!

    Hopefully it'l all go smoothly!
thanks for all your help guys :j

    Brilliant! Congratulations!

Your forum has given me the confidence to go it alone - such amazing support and information never done anything like this before ---- but have bitten the bullet - sent off SARS letters today to HFC & Santander and to FSCS regarding a Picture Loan.
Also rang Halifax PPI line - Had no more than the last 4 digits of the loan account number (got off my credit report) - Really helpful lady confirmed i did have PPI on a loan back in 2003. - i gave my reasons for Mis sale of PPI - tells me they will write to me within 5 days -

    Wish me luck

Good for you!:T and the best of luck.;)

Hi i posted in the ppi success forum a few days back I have received a good will gesture off RBS but don't quite understand the letter hopefully someone can put me right.

I have put in 7 different claims and the first one posted back on 5th march i was hoping to have more popping through the door but to no avail,i take it they will be sent in drips and drabs???

another question looking at the declaration and acceptance sheet it says the following

"I wish to accept the banks goodwill offer of £XXXX on on the basis that such an offer is
accepted in full and final settlement of all or any claims which i might have against the royal bank of scotland group or any subsidiary companies in respect of my natwest payment Protection Insurance for loan account number XXXXXXXX."

Will this bit in bold affect my other 6 claims if i sign the declaration sheet???

    thanks Alan

    Hi Alan

Do give them a ring to get this rectified, to me it sounds like they want you to accept the offer on all, but yet that may just look that way, as they have stated in respect of loan account number xxxxxxx which can be rather confusing.
I would ask them if they are dealing with the other reclaims on a separate basis, just to make sure.

    Good luck and well done!

I have searched the forum for an answer to my question,
I see it's been asked before,But can not see a reply,

So my question,How far back can you claim,
I had a buisness development loan in from 1987 to 20002,
Also a bridging loan,Both were taken out with natwest.
I am no longer in buisness, and don't even know if i paid PPI as i have no paperwork to hand,Could you please advize

    Thanks John.

    Hi John and welcome

Many have been successful in making reclaims from accounts via 90's and I am sure from the 80's too, so if you still have the account numbers, with no paperwork and think it's a possibility you were sold and mis sold ppi there is no harm in giving it a go.

Some have done this and even received an offer from older cases, especially where no paperwork etc.

    Good luck.

    Hi,

I have recently made a complaint and have recieved a series of offers on 6 loans and 2 credit cards which I've had over a 7 year period. Some of these loans have been refinanced one 4 times and the other twice and two have been 5 figure loans.

However the offer is around £2000 which seems quite low relative to the value and number of loans and credit cards. I have seen someone else's offer, which seems to have a range of things that mine does not, namely early settlement repayment and interest on the excess balance. Whilst the offer does reflect that in refinancing the overall excess balance was higher, the interest on the excess balance and the cost of paying off the ppi when the previous loans were paid off is not.

I cannot help but feel the bank has made a low offer not considering the full range of implications of refinancing, but I don't really know how to interrogate how they have worked it out or whether I am entitled to this.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Kenny

    Hi Kenny

If you have paperwork/calculations to these accounts, it maybe worth you sending them copies.
If it was a goodwill offer, for example, they no longer hold all the information because of the age of the accounts, sometimes it comes down to an offer of goodwill.

However, if this is not the case for you, do contact them and ask them for a written calculated breakdown to explain how they come down to these amounts, I would be requesting for them anyway.
They should provide them to you on request.

If they upheld your complaint - normally the must calculate within the guidelines of the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), but they should refund you what you have actually paid of the ppi on each premium, plus the relevant interest.
And depending on how long the accounts ran for will be taken into account as well.

I understand loan ppi works differently to credit card ppi in regards of the interest.
Meanwhile maybe someone will be along soon with a clearer detail on this for you.

    Good luck and well done!

Hi, I've been in the 're-work list' with my PPI complaint to Barclaycard since October 2011. I've made 4 calls to them since, only to be told I am still on the list and they have no idea when my complaint will be finalised.
My initial complaint was made in October 2010, I was then told August 31st 2011 that they could find no trace of me paying PPI (I upgraded my credit card after cancelling the PPI and they clearly didn't check both accounts even though they were linked and I provided both details!). After a couple of phone calls, my complaint was placed in the 're-work list'.
Just wondering if anyone has been in the same position or could lend some advice? I'm a bit worried that the longer it goes on, my complaint may expire, or something along those lines.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi and welcome

Do contact your local MP to write/chase them up on your behalf, hopefully this will budge them and it's understood by many contacting their MP's have helped to get the ball rolling faster.

    Good luck.

  • Good evening,

I had a mortgage with the Halifax for 8 years starting back in 1997 and paid mortgage PPI every month. I am a nurse working in the NHS so have an excellent package to cover sickness redundancy etc. Looking back I cannot believe that I paid out so much to the bank when I need not have done so. When I changed mortgage to another bank it wasn't even offered. Is this something I can look to claiming? The original letter says that they they strongly recommend I take out PPI and being my first mortgage I did as I was advised. Any one have some advice for me? Many thanks.

Good grief! I just logged into my online banking, and they've paid me my PPI today! I only opened the letter from them yesterday. That's certainly cleared my overdraft. I'd anticipated they'd hang on to the cash until closer to the cut-off date at the end of the month.

All toll, that's pretty much 8 weeks to the day from sending off the forms to receiving the money. Very happy bunny :D
