PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hi, very new to this ...
Looking at reclaiming PPI on a loan with Sainsburys Bank.
We actually paid the loan back early - within the first or second year I think, but recently found that the PPI providers (St Andrew's Group) continued to take the monthly premium even though we no longer had the loan. This went on for about six-seven years.
Never mind how daft it is that I didn't ever ask my bank what that payment was for (although I do think I asked them once and they misinformed me that it had something to do with an overdraft), I'd like feedback as to whether this falls within the PPI claim or should it be a separate issue.
Thanks in advance.0 -

Don't suppose any when can maybe hazard a guess as to how much I might be look at if they ever do get bac ko me? The loan was taken in 2003 and the amount of PPI was added seperately for 7,800 the loan was over 8 years, PPI only covered for 5 years and my payment was never reduced to reflect this, so I carried on paying 482 a month until the term end. I was told I had to have the cover to get the rate I was offered originally and did I not take the cover I wouldn't get the loan, I was not given an option and it was never explained to me at all other than the T&C's came after the money was in the bank. What an absolute @sshole I was for accepting in the first place.
Ok, rang FOS yesterday who advised the 8 weeks for response was up, and low and behold no response, so I've tried to ring Capital One Homeowner Loans (I thought I'd applied through a company called H.F.S) anyway women on the phone told me I can't speak to anyone in that division she can take a message and get them to call me back and it'll take 72 hours:mad::mad::mad: are they having a laugh or what? Where do I go from here?0 -
hello all.
this is my first post on the forum but i have been lurking for some time.
i'm posting because last week i finally listened properly to my dad's complaint about his alleged mis-trreatment at the hands of natwest in the mid-90's. i had always tuned out whenever he started moaning as he would revert to the topic at the oddest of times but it appears that he actually had a legitimate grievance and that i've done him a disservice.
the issue is that he tried for many months to get his overdraft converted to a loan to take advantage of lower interest rates but they refused. then he was made redundnant and registered as self-employed.
when natwest noticed that regular credits were NOT being put into the account they then offered to convert the overdraft into a loan but only if my dad paid for an insurance policy to cover repayments in the event that his self-employment failed.
my dad agreed but several months later his self-employed work dried up and so he made a claim but natwest turned him down on the basis that he was self-employed.
we have the payment protection claim initial "we are assessing your claim" letter but nothing else.
please could you help my dad by giving your opinion on whether or not this is a case of mis-selling and, if yes, what we should do next.
thanks in advance.0 -
make a complaint.
but it was a long time ago, so they may have no records left, so unless you have your own, i.e. agreements, statements etc, to show you paid it, then your complaint will probably fail.
Even if he is successful, they will only pay what he paid, plus interest, so you don't say whether he defaulted or not, or whether he continued to pay.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Hi
I received a letter from my bank, NatWest, regarding three loans I've had with them, the first in 2005. According to NatWest i paid PPI on all three loans! They enclosed a form for me to fill in the details of the policies and whether I feel they were mis-sold. The thing is I had no idea I was paying it! The loans were paid off years ago so I haven't got the paperwork. I don't think I would have signed up to PPI, I've always refuse it.
I phoned them today, explaining that I didnt really have enough details to complete the form and the guy was really helpful. Logged it all there and then, rather than me posting the form back.
Now I'm wondering if this is going to go anywhere? I have literally no paperwork for the loans and I can't remember the actual application. With everything so vague, do you think it will be accepted?0 -

Contact St Andrews and ask them what it was for, if it was loan PPI it should have ended when you paid the loan back and be on the paperwork, it is possible this was extra cover for something else and nothing to do with the loan you won't know until you call them.0 -
