You can still claim if you have cancelled or no longer have a policy. Not all companies will let you cancel, but with others you may be able to get a small refund depending how long is left on the loan?
Was you working when you took out the PPI? (pretty important).
If you wanted to you can private message me the form you have sent, and I may be able to help further with all the information.

Private messages (you are new so will not be able to receive PMs) regarding form filling are not needed on this site, the op can get all the help they need regarding the claim from all the contributors on this site, if you have any helpful information regarding the form filling then post it up and help others.

Yes, it's always a bit suspicious when someone with little or no posting history invites personal messages so that "private help" can be given. It's one of the reasons that full posting privileges are not granted immediately to new posters.

So welcome to the board ,Jimmyb1984, but please share your knowledge on the public forum so that everyone can benefit.
  • Hello

Im new to this and just have a couple of questions. I have recently been contacted by one of the many Reclaim PPI companies and when i found out how much they charge i decided to try to do it myself to save paying them 39%. But herein lies the problem, I know I've had loans from my bank which have been paid off but can't remember if i paid PPI or not and all the paperwork as been destroyed. So my first question is how do i find out about these and is there a template letter avialable because i cant seem to find one. and my second question is that I have been paying MRP (Morgage Re-Payment Protector) on my morgage and want to know is this the same has PPI and can i claim this back

Any help in this would be gratefully recieved and appreciated

A claims company wont locate old loans. You have to do that yourself. You need to contact your bank and ask them

MRP can be MPPI. However, most people take insurance for their mortgage and with good reason. It is still regarded as the one PPI that is worth having (a credit card or loan cant see your house being repossessed due to non payment. Not paying your mortgage will). Part of the reason why far fewer complaints about mortgage insurance succeed. Do you have any grounds for complaint about your mortgage insurance?

  • Hi, new to ppi reclaim and I am helping someone else with theirs who knows little or nothing about how they work.
Nationwide credit card taken out in 2002 cannot find original ppi agreement but it appears at a varying amount (% of balance?) on all the statements. In 2003/2004 got into payment difficulties (due to marriage breakup) and lost job due to reoccurrence of a medical problem caused by diabetes which he was born with. Tried to claim via phone and told he could not because he got sick after he lost his job. They sent a letter saying they were suspending his account and he still owes the money. Since then they have been sending him monthly statements adding ppi premiums for which he can never claim and some over limit charges. He has been struggling along managing to pay the minimum payment but ive calculated its going to be 14 more years to pay off. They wont send him a card even though he is below the balance. Can I cancel the ppi immediately without making it more difficult to claim it back? If i lend him the money should i clear the lot or leave a nominal amount so that the account is still open?
Did I read nationwide have an online claim system or should I just write a letter?
  • This company I went to reclaim my ppi (fast track ppi) they are absolutely waste of time, never call back.

Staff working their in the customer service department are rude, manager in a waste of time doesnt help with anything and dont know why his got a job there.

Their are other ppi companys who will probably be more helpful.
  • I have ignored most of the PPI saga as I have always refused the insurance but a recent cold call got me thinking after I told them to "go away".
Back in 2004/5 ish I did have an Egg loan and although I told them I didn't want the insurance they added it anyway. It wasn't very much and there was lots of other stuff going on at the time so I didn't pursue it with them.
Now I have started to wonder if I can claim the money back? Obvious snag is who do I complain to as Egg no longer exists.
    Any suggestions please?

    Hi
I have have had a unusual situation where I have received a cheque for £2,399.89 from a company LIFESTYLE MONEY based in Swansea which is a trading name for All Debt Solutions. This is good except that I have not approached any one to claim any PPI for me as I am currently doing this my self with the templates from Money Saving Expert.com. I have contacted the company to be told I should just cash the cheque. I was then told that they would get some one to contact me regarding the payment, which they have failed to do. I feel that they have taken this on them selves and now taken hundreds of pounds for doing so which should be mine. I have had a number of companies contacting me stating I am owed money from a loan,so think this is how they also knew. Can you help or give advice of how I should proceed..I have banked the cheque and placed it away in a account in order to provide a foot print through my bank .
    Regards

No company knows you had a loan unless it's the company you had a loan with who contacts you.
If you Are currently pursuing any DMP, or an IVA or similar, it's posible that the company organising that has contacted the claims company to complain on your behalf, but unles they have a signed contract with you, they cannot complain for you, or take any money that belongs to you.
Are you sure it wasn't a joint loan and your possibly ex partner has complained?

  • Hi there, been going over these threads and the main guides for a while now but think I may get better answers here hopefully!

My ex-partner and I took out a secured loan on HIS house (i wasnt named on the mortgage) with Welcome Finance in oct-nov 2003.
It was for £10,000 and it definitely had PPI. The loan was arranged and completed at a local office face to face.
In November 2004 we sold the house and the loan was repaid - just over £14000.

We are not on speaking terms at all. I read in the guide that some lenders pay 1 person all, some part, and some require both parties to apply. Does anyone know where Welcome stand on this? I am concerned that he will have seen the PPI adverts and gone to one of them, so even if Welcome are paying 1 person, would the claim companies have allowed this?

If its the case that he has not applied, what are my chances of getting anywhere with Welcome without any paperwork, and the fact that its before 2005 - does anyone know if they were regulated? Also on a £10,000 loan does anyone know a rough amount of PPI that would have been paid (i know their APR was high and £4000 over the £10,000 that we had would have been mainly interest and early pay off charges wouldnt it?)
I have gone through the success threads but obviously all cases are different so if anyone has any advice it will be much appreciated!
    Thanks :D
