PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hi
I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct area, but it is related to PPI.
I am in the process of reclaiming the ppi I had on my DFS sofas, purchased in 2001. The agreement was with First National Tricity Finance Ltd, who were bought out by GE Money and then Santander.
DFS final response was 'no' and referred me on to the FO. The FO have had it 9 weeks and called me yesterday to say that they required the name of the 'UNDERWRITER'S' of First National at the time, so that they could pursue them for the claim, as First National were not regulated at the time with them. Without this info, they would not be able to continue with my complaint.
I called DFS, they didn't know who the Underwriter was, but referred me to Santander, who also don't know, conveniently. I just wondered if anyone here had found out who they were at that time?I've seen a few threads on here, saying it was Cardiff Pinacle, however this seemed to relate to a First National 'Loan' and not the DFS agreement; Would they be the same underwriter?
Many thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi all, I've been lurking on these threads ever since the man indoors said he was thinking of reclaiming (read - me reclaiming and it being his idea
)
I have just had a letter back from capital one. As I got married after I had closed the account they want a copy of the marriage certificate. Fair do's but the other parts of the letter confused me.
Can anyone advise?
"Please note that where there is no sum which is, or will, or may become payable under the credit agreement, the obligation to provide documentation under Section 78 of the consumer credit act 1974 does not apply. If you have a closed, settled or partially settled account with Capital one then we have no obligation to provide you with a copy of the documents that you have requested.
I acknowledge receipt of your £1 cheque. As we are not providing any documents, this cheque will be safely destroyed and will not be cashed."
Number one, I sent a postal order not a cheque so I'd expect it back and not just to be destroyed as I'm a tight wadbut I thought that they would still need to provide the information requested of them. This was a credit card from a fair few years ago
and it is settled and has been for a while.
Maybe I'm wrong, it's not a huge deal but I was quite sure they would still need to provide me with the initial contracts/agreements.
Thanks in advance0 -

Im posting for a co worker, she has a loan with Halifax with ppi on it since nov 2008, she was working part time 16 hours at the time of taking out the loan/policy, is this a reason to claim miss selling??0

Hi there,
I keep getting these companies contacting me saying I could reclaim miss sold ppi. I was declared Bankrupt in June 2009, and had an early discharge. Can I claim miss sold PPI? I know that when I took out credit cards, I was told I wouldn't be accepted unless I took this out. The only problem is I don't know the date I opened accounts etc. If I can great, if I can't it's no biggie. I would just like to know, that way I can explain to these companies so they won't contact me.
Many thanks

I was advised to register with www.noddle.co.uk - its free and if you click the tab "Closed Accounts" it will give you dates etc of old accounts. Hope this helps
I have a debt relief order, but am still trying to claim PPI. I just figure even if they offset any monies owing, it will reduce my debt to them and maybe even clear it.0 -

Look here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=136 and find out if any claim you win will go to the OR.
If you know who the card companies were, give them a ring and ask if they can find the accounts. if they can, if PPI was on there and you have reasons for mis sell then put the claims in, you do not need a company to use the free process of reclaiming that we all use, all they do is post the complaint to the bank, you have to get the account numbers etc and they will take a hefty % of your win plus Vat, as you are a discharged bankrupt ( look at the link I gave you )you may not get any redress back to you and you will then have a bill for the claims co.0 -

Got a letter dated 15th May 2012 from HSBC saying they were looking into my PPI claim and would respond within 8 weeks.
It's now August 11th and no response. On there original letter dated 15th May 2012 there is a telephone number on it.
The number is 023 8072 3838.
Lines are open between 9am and 5pm.
I mustve rang 50 times and everytime there is a recorded message saying "Welcome to PPI claims, you are in a cue" then mentions , the timescales for PPI responses. The call goes on for 2 mins 13 secs (according to my mobile phone) then the line goes dead.
What a waste of time.
Does anyone know of another phone number?
I have tried the main HSBC line but they are unable to help.
By the way i have been awarded (yet to receive) a sum from M&S Money from a loan that originally goes back to 1996 so dont let the date of loan put you off.
Cheers
I'm having the same problem with the phone line going dead it's shockingly bad customer service.0 -
Thanks for replying Amersall. I do have the original DFS agreement, but it only shows First National Tricity Finance Ltd on it. I have looked at all the small print but couldn't find anything/one else.
I'll try contact Cardiff Pinnacle and hopefully find out that way.
Thanks again for your reply.
