  • Hi all, I would appreciate any advice you can offer folks.

I have put in a PPI claim on a mortgage I have with Halifax. I have received a letter from them today and wanted to know what it really means and if anyone else has received this.

    They have put:

I can confirm that the dedicated team who investigate mis-selling issues have confirmed that a Review Manager who specialises in allegations regarding the alleged mis-sale of insurance will contact you shortly and in any case within the next 8 weeks.

As your case is currently being investigated by our Regulated Insurance Advice Teamany correspondence should be addressed to them.

That's the gist of the letter anybody on here know what that means in plain old Queens english?

Thanks for any advice you can give. Rich

Has any one been in a similar situation and would you share the outcome

regarding sanander i have received a letter unfortunatly it was addressed to Sirs ( I,m clearly a Mrs) and had the wrong account number stating the account closed.....( account live and kicking for the last 17 years it needless to say i have responded stating their mistakes and have asked for the matter to be dealt with within the 8 week time frame as in the origninal letter dated the 20th August. I have received no response form GE money who orignially held the account for debenhams.

Any advise would be gratefully received

As Debenhams sold you the card, there was no point in sending a complaint to GE Money. A mis-selling complaint must be sent to the organisation which did the selling.

As to Santander, you'll just have to await their response.

It means they are considering your complaint and will issue a full response in the next eight weeks. It's just an acknowledgement letter which every Halifax complainant receives.
  • My question to the forum is how much is the letter likely to state my payout will be?
Full redress is a refund of all PPI paid plus 8% simple interest.

Sorry i,m now confused...should i have sent the questionaire to Debenhams.. I sent the questionaire to Santander and it was them that sent me the orignial credit agreement which shows I did not tick any boxes to agree to PPI it just says send package across the boxes. Santander took over from GE so thought i would write to both to cover all bases, bearing in mind i have had the card since October 1995 and is still open.
  • Im very confused- so here goes- i had car finance with advantage-the car was repossessed - and sold on- Advantage took me to court and the courts agreed to me paying back a certain amount each week - which i have never defaulted on- Advantage have agreed to award me over £1000 pounds back with regards to the ppi-but insist it will be taken off of the outstanding balance- My Question is do i have to accept that or can i insist the money be sent to me - as my agreement with advantage and the court is being adhered to ...HELP as advantage are obviously awaiting me reply:think:

Unfortunately the Bank are indeed allowed to off set any redress awarded against monies owed from defaulted loans. I very much doubt they are awaiting any response from you, they will have written simply to inform you of their intention.
On the positive side, you now owe a lot less than you did at the outset of your PPI complaint.

you only write to the institution that sold you the cover, so you complain to debenhams.
