PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

I'm so confused about this whole PPI business. I've just come back from travelling for two years and now I've put my English sim card in I'm getting bombarded with texts saying I'm owed £2-3000 and the phone rings none stop with all these automated messages saying I'm owed thousands. I know to take all this with a rather large pinch of salt.
I've confirmed with my CC company that I did have PPI when I first took it out in 2008 and I cancelled it in 2010. Does this automatically mean I can claim SOMETHING or is it not as simple as that...?Opinion Panel £50 Lightspeed: £40 Pigsback: £303 Valued Opinions: £365 Media Transfer: £32 Juicy Brains- £30 American Consumer Opinion: £16 Freebie Networks: £220 Cashback Sites: £1503.87 Competitions: £200 Total Cash Value: £2759.87 Last updated: April 20230 -
Which bank??
HSBC who I've banked with for over 20 years were able to give me loan account numbers but no info, there regulated sales complaints have asked for agreements, which I don't have all of, I sent them a sar on 19th July, nothing back at all, complained a week ago giving them until tomorrow to respond, nothing yet,
Ico next
So hope ur not with Hsbc!!!I am with HSBC. I contacted them through online banking for copies of loan documents and got a letter from regulated sales complaints 8 weeks later to say they can't locate the documents I requested. They did however provided me with all loan account numbers. If they can't help in branch is my next step a SAR?

Yes a sar is your next step, like I say there very slow, I've waited 52 days so far, sent a complaint last week, had email saying my complaint had been passed to the relevant department on Monday but nothing else yet, if I get nothing by Monday I will be reporting them to the ico, oh yeh the phone number on the HSBC letter doesnt work either, gives you a recorded message, tells you to hold to speak to someone, after 2 mins cuts you off........0 -

HSBC are actually quite good in relation to revealing if PPI was paid or not.0 -

People often get more than this, but if the Bank have already written to say they can't locate requested documentation and it's more than six years old then the wisdom of a SAR is in question.

When you say 6 years is that from start or end date as one loan only ended last year and was over 4 years and that loan was taken out just as another ended so these 2 at least ended within 6 years and one started within 6 years.0 -

My wife works for a bank, if your still a customer they will have details, they just try to hide behind " the we only keep records for 6 years"
At the end of the day it's £10 for a sar, not a fortune really, when you may get a lot more than £10 back....... Just be prepared to wait......0 -

The Bank would doubtless argue that current customers account details are "necessary"0 -
