PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hi all, i have recently sent a claim
Form for ppi to clydesdale( the form was just one printed online) i waited 8 weeks but last saturday got a letter saying they were offering me £3777.44 for an old loan i had 11 years ago so glad i sent it now. Does anyone know how long you wait for the money after signing and sending acceptance letter??? Also how do i know if ive paid ppi on old loans, credit cards & finance if ive paid them off and do not have any paperwork?? X
Congrats! I am looking forward to receiving a letter like that from my bank! I had 3 loans with PPI forced down my throat before the bank stopped this practice. I wonder if I will get £11,300?
If you had any idea which finance company the credit card or loan was obtained, you could give them a phone call and ask them. They will be able to tell you if you were their customer. Once you obtain this information, you can start writing to them about putting in a complaint and they will have to send you a PPI form for you to complete.
I hope this helps.0 -
hi, after waiting a wk for the questionaire to arrive from welcome(watch it arrive today) i printed the one from the fos site.
after a number of fone calls to welcome to get the rite info and it turns out im the main holder of 3 of the loans which is what i was told to start with then some other woman sed nope only 2 so now they have decided i dont need to send in ex hubs death cert and divorce papers as loans in my name anyway grrrrrrr spent ages yest gettin copies.
anyway my questions are
how good are they at paying out on loans before 05?
and do they drag it out the full 8 wks even if its just a tuff luck u get nowt letter??
thanks in advance for any answers xx0 -
Response received from DFS last night, what are your thoughts people? Should I just let this one go?
We are writing further to your recent letter concerning the provision of payment protection insurance (PPI) and to provide our final response.
We are aware of the media coverage surrounding major banks and PPI and can reassure you that DFS offered optional PPI as part of a process designed to establish the eligibility of our customer in
terms of both applying and making a claim. Following this fact find we would make a recommendation and subsequently our customers chose whether to buy PPI or not.
At the end of the sales process you would have been handed your finance agreement with all the terms and conditions (including the full PPI policy) and a sales order. You would have been given time to check the paperwork and ask any questions before signing it to confirm that all of the
information was correct. You would then have been given copies to take home. This is not true, we were sitting on a sofa with the sales guy, he said the place that done the finance was closed at the weekend & he would be in touch
We take any enquiry of this nature very seriously and as part of our investigation we note that your order was placed on 10th March 2001 which was prior to FSA regulation of general insurance.
When considering all of the facts available at this time and taking into account the sales process as detailed above we are unable to accept your claim that PPI was mis-sold.
We feel that you were eligible for the policy and that sufficient information relating to PPI would have been given at the point of sale and in the documentation taken away.
Should you remain unhappy you can escalate your complaint to the Group Retail Controller, Andrew Tweedale, who can be contacted by writing to the address at the top of this letter. Furthermore if you still remain dissatisfied you can refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service who may in
exceptional circumstances waive the time limit within which they can investigate a complaint. This must be done within 6 months.
Just a wee update folks, had a call from FOS today, they have said that I need to find out who the underwriter was at the time of the order (I assumed it was Novasure as thats who the Insurance Certificate was from)?? I have no idea how to find this out, was bad enought trying to track down an address for Novasure/DFS in the first place, the complaint was sent to Novasure/Hitachi Retail Finance twice as the first address I sent it to got sent back saying addresee gone away.
Argos - Sent to FOS in July, still not heard about this one.
Capital One - Sent me my original contract clearly showing the ppi box ticked with a "No" then in a telephone conversation (activation of card), I was eligible for PPI, I never said at any point I was ineligible, my complaint is I was mis-sold so this will be getting sent to the FOS today, it was only when re-vamping my finances in 2005 I cancelled this! They make me so
These are the only ones I have had trouble with, the rest of my successes were all posted on the other thread, thanks to Martin & all the fab info from the guys on this thread, do not give up people! I have managed to clear most of my debts & a wee bit left over to do my back garden which has been a site for 3 years:TGratitude is the best Attitude :T

The Bank are allowed eight weeks to consider your complaint. There are rare instances reported of them taking less, but it's unlikely at the moment because all the Banks are currently swamped with PPI complaints.0 -
thanks for that money xx
the reason was welcome said the norm at the time you wont get the loan without ppi so i had no option of saying no and im also not sure if it was frontloaded think it was if im getting the gist of what frontloaded means(added to the loan at start then intrest charged on that aswell??)
i do have a old copy of 1 of the insurance paperwork and i have old bank statements showing the other loan payments hope that is ok if they need them.0 -
Hi
WELCOME FINANCE!!!!!!!
Have had a letter from Welcome Finance regarding a joint secured loan me and my ex husband had back in 2002! They state they need his authority for me to act in this matter as he is the lead name on the agreement. I have a copy of the agreement and it does not state who is lead etc etc on the loan it is just both customer names. Called them and advised i have no idea where my ex husband is and cannot obtain authority from him, plus I made all payments to them from my sole bank account and can prove this however they unwilling to listen !!! I know he has an outstanding loan with them in his name and does not involve me at all. Have waited 8 weeks for them to tell me this!!!!
Anyone any ideas on what to do next???
Thanks in advance x0 -
when i rang them they was able to tell me over the fone who was the main account holder( me on 3 ex on 1).but if hes got a loan outstanding with welcome would they be able to contact him themselfs??
having a runaround from them myself as first they told me i was on 3 then changed it to 2 then changed it to 3.they they said the info i had spent tues running around getting(decree absolute) they dont need it anyway as its all in my name so sending decree absolute and his death cert would just confuse matters more grrrrrrr
oh and a wk later still no questionaire so i printed 1 off yest and sent it recorded today so i now dare them to send a letter bk and say they need decree absolute and death cert i double dare them!!!0 -
Just a quickie - had ppi i know for definite on a lloyds (before it was LTSB) loan - whats worse is a clear case of mis selling as I actually worked for them at that time and manager said I had to have it to have loan!!! It was also just before I was getting married and needed funds to renovate a property - my husband (now) came into to branch to see about a loan as property was only in his name at that time and I remember a different manager this time telling me I am expecting some insurance from this mind!!! I have been ill for some years and only just sorting finances and this has come to mind - trouble is we did not keep any paperwork and I have asked in branch today and they say they can only go back 10 years for statements though they are not sure about microfiche - If i send off for an SAR will it go back this far (I know its approx 1991 onwards) or is it just worth doing the ppi template and telling the story and giving approx dates0

Help please
I sent next a letter regarding ppi, they confirmed I have it on my account but my complaint is with first assist, who I've written to (19/7)& they have ignored me, no reply not a sausage, what do I do now??
Sent Gmac a letter on 19/7 reclaiming ppi on a car loan along with the loan doc (copy) no reply, what do I do now?
Any tips anyone?..0 -
You could give them a ring and tell them you wanted to know how the PPI was added - was it front loaded or a seperate payment.
I cannot see how they can already be dealing with your complaint as you have given no reason for mis sell.
All you need to make a complaint is account number and a strong reason for mis sell. Front loaded being the most upheld by FOS
Thanks for replying. Is it worth me sending them a formal SAR? I fail to see how they cannot locate documents for all loans when one only ended last year and was only for four years. Is a SAR my next step as I only asked for my documents via a message on online banking?0
