  • Hi All. Could anyone please advise me -I've sent a letter to HSBC requesting copies of my paperwork for for loans/cards with PPI (using the first draft letter on this site), but 4 weeks have passed and I've had no response from them.
Is there anything I should do other than just pester them?
    Thanks
  • Hi all,

I've finally decided to investigate my past finances to see if i'm eligible for any PPI refunds.

I've gone over my bank statements from the past 7 years (as far back as i can go online) and have found all the following:

    RBS Mint - Credit Card - 2005
    Black Horse - Car Loan - 2005
    MBNA Virgin - Credit Card - 2005
    Vanquis - Credit Card - 2006
    RBS - Credit Card - 2006
    Barclaycard - Credit Card - 2007
    Halifax - Credit Card - 2009
    Barclays Finance - Sofa Purchase - 2009

The dates at the side are the years when each was started.

They have all now been paid/closed.

Unfortunately, i don't have records of any account numbers etc so i'm wondering what my next step is?

Is it a case of contacting each of the lenders and asking if the account included PPI?

    Any help much appreciated :)
  • I need some help please.... I had a postgraduate studies loan from HSBC back in 2000 at which time I had no income whatsoever and had just finished university...HSBC lent me 10,000. I was ill and couldn't make large repayments so my debt has been sold to various debt collection agencies to which i pay £50 per month.
I have had recent contact with HSBC when i have been ill and most recently to say my debt has been sold to another agency, MKDP.
When i was sold it i was totally naive and had no idea what in was getting into...which was my fault......but they were so eager to give me the loan.
I have written a SAR to HSBC but as it was so long ago i don't really know if i have a chance??
Please could somone give me a little advice just 5 minutes.

    Many Thanks

  • Hi all, I've been trying to decide weather to look at a PPI complaint for a few months now. After finding this site and the amazing guides that have been provided, I decided that I should put some effort in and see if I have a valid claim.

I have a couple of questions, that I hope somone could help with:

My concern relates to a mortgage that my wife and I took out with Nationwide back in 2004. It was our first home and we were quite naive when it came to these things. I remember very clearly being sat in the motgage advisors office and being presented with agreements to sign - one for the motgage itself and the other for an insurance policy that would provide payment cover in the event of death or illness. I understand that insurance is very often mandatory when taking out a mortgage, but surely you should be given a choice in who the insurance provider is? In our case, we were not given a choice - it was presented to us as "if you want this mortgage, you have to have this as well".

So my first question is, does our complaint sound like something that would give us grounds for claiming PPI miss selling, or are policies relating to mortgages not covered?

Secondly if we do have grounds to complain, who do we complain about? Our mortgage was with Nationwide, but the mortgage advisor and person that processed our application was from Countrywide Mortgage Services. So we are unsure who we should direct our complaint to.

Any help or suggestions would be very welcome!

    Tony.
  • Hello

Im starting the daunting proceedure of claiming PPI for myself rather then using anyone else. I have some terms and conditions from some credit cards but cant tell if PPI was taken out or not, so im going to send them a letter directly to see if i can claim. But my question is the companies that i dont have terms and conditions for do i have to send a letter requesting terms and conditions or can i send them a letter directly to see if i can claim.

    Many Thanks

Then it is Egg that have to pay, contact FOS and ask what you should do, Egg will tell you that Barclays took over, but won't tell you they did not take closed accounts.

Thanks, I posted it all off to FoS on Saturday.

If you get no joy from the Sar request, write to the company that have the debt now and get the account number, if you had PPI and have reasons for mis sell then just put the claim in, just to let you know, any redress they may give you may be taken off the debt that you owe.

If you have the card numbers then contact the banks concerned and ask if you had PPI, if the accounts are closed then they will not supply the T&C you will have to do a Sar request, this will cost £10 per bank.
With a Credit card the PPI may have been activated at a later date so the T&C are of no use to you, PPI on a card is on every statement, do you have any at all?.
