Ring Santander and give them as much info as you can and see if they can find you.

I am sure it is Santander, if anyone else knows who it is could you please confirm?.

    Hi All
I have been battling with TSB as I took out a loan with TSB in 1992 and the premium charged for the policy was £380.90 The loan was paid off early 1994 payment was £88.30 per monthHow much was the ppi payment per month?,this figure you have given looks like the whole payment for loan and ppi.
Today i received a refund cheque of £1,511.78, but no letter, just said further to my letter of 5th Dec 11-I never received a letter.
You did not pay this loan to term end so when you settled this, you would have been given a rebate of the ppi, if this is a goodwill gesture then you have a good deal for a loan that old, if it is full redress for mis sell, then it looks like they have given you the whole ppi back less the rebate they gave you and 8% interest this 8% would be decent for the ppi amount you paid, this looks a good figure. See what the letter says when you get it, this will show the workings out.
I was also battling Clydesdale Bank for PPI took out in loan in July 1993 and paid it off in 1996. The PPI premium was £208.57. Payment £63.55 a month. This, again is the whole payment and not just the ppi. I was turned down so went to FOS and they upheld it, I had to sign an acceptance form without any details of the figures and today on my bank statement I have been credited with £437.17 This is the ppi back and interest, the 8% will be less on this one due to the ppi monthly amount.

I know you can't be sure of figures but these don't seem comparable. Any thoughts?
Don't get me wrong I am pleased as I thought these claims were lost.
Please read the "red bits" on your post above.

They will not be comparable due to the 8% amounts, the ppi on the first loan was more than the ppi on the second one, hope this helps, when you get the figures please post and then we can tell you if they are right.

This is my first posting and I'm not even sure I'm writing on the right place..! I'm wondering if anybody could help.

I bought a house in late 2007, with a help of a local financial advisor (Belfast). The mortgage was arranged with a local building society and when I received my first month's bank statement I was suprised to see that there was a Standard Life Policy direct debited from my account. I didn't think anything of it so I cancelled the policy and next few days I received an e-mail from my financial advisor saying..

'I have received a letter from Standard Life Bank saying you instructed them to cancel this policy???
I assume this is just an error as this policy is your protection for the mortgage which is required?
Can you please reply as a matter of urgency as we will need to have this rectified asap!'

Since then, I've been paying £30 every month, for this policy. I didn't think anything of it until all these talks of PPI insurance claims emerged recently..

Have I been mis-sold my PPI insurance? If so, do I write to my mortgage lender? eventhough mortgage lender is different to the insurance company? or my financial advisor?

    HELP!

    Hi all
I have recieved a without prejudice offer from blue sky finance (welcome finance loan) of £2500 with no admittance of liability and a form to resend. The question i have is the policy started in march 2008 and the original PPi amount was £2381.00 so i have been paying the intrest on this for the last 4 yrs. Am i right in this assumption ? the policy is still running. My reason for missold is that the policy only covers me for 60mnths of a 120mnth loan and it was front loaded. Does this ammount seem correct or should i reject and wait for a proper breakdown of the monies paid.

The loan is £272.89 per month over 120 months at 24.6% apr.

A big thanks in advance for any replies.

Ask them for a breakdown of what the redress is for, if this does not reset the loan and take the whole ppi off then.....
Reject this and send this letter.
We/i reject the offer that you have made for refund for loan number xxxxxx, this policy was mis sold because of the reasons below and ask you to reconsider the offer or We/i will pass this to the FOS for a second opinion.

We/I believe we were mis sold the ppi on the above account number, and would like recordings,if any to the contrary of my/our reasons for mis sell set out below.

1)We/I were not told that the ppi was in effect another loan that was added to the original loan and was repayable over the loan term with interest.

    2) We/I were told that the ppi was a 5 year policy, but not told the ppi would still be on the loan to term end with interest.

    3) We/I were told that if we did not make a claim,or go into arrears on the ppi ,after 5 years we would receive the cashback of ppi but were not told this would not include the interest made on these payments that we paid over the 5 years.

In line with the FOS recommendations it is requested that the overall situation be restored as if PPI had never been included. This will entail:
A refund of the monthly payments that have actually been paid towards the overall loan in excess of those that would have been needed, if the original loan had been sold without the PPI policy.

In addition, interest at the rate of 8% simple per annum to any excess payments made from the time each payment was made to the point that Barclays pays them back to us. We/i believe we were not given enough information on this ppi to make an informed decision. Had we/i known the full cost of this ppi we would not have taken it.

Unless you can prove without doubt that this PPI policy was fair, reasonable and suitable for my/our circumstances we/I will require you to rearrange the loan as if PPI had never been included on the above loan

You need the whole ppi taken off the loan and the monthly payment to reduce by the ppi monthly amount, this offer (if i am correct) will give you the sum they have offered and THE WHOLE PPI WILL STILL BE ON THE LOAN!!!!!

Hi everyone, I was discharged from a protected trust deed in 2006. Can anyone tell me if I can claim ppi from creditors that were included in the trust deed? Thank you

If you do, i believe they can take the redress if you still owe them any money.
To know for sure post your question here

Just to add :D you only get the ppi back with the interest that you paid to date and not the ppi you have not yet paid.
With this type of loan it is imperative you get the full redress and the whole ppi taken off the loan.

    Thanks for your responses.
Before got chance to send any SARs I found some Capital One statements and eventhough the paperwork shows I ticked NO to PPI it seems they charged it to me for about 13 months so shall I just send them a letter for a refund of that which is about £45.00?Put a claim in and a copy of the agreement that shows you did not ask for ppi.

Also re paperwork from Bank of Scotland which has signature but nothing about PPI. I have now found an old letter that they sent to me in August 2011 telling me that "You had payment protection for your AA card" and then going into a long letter about how I shouldnt have felt pressured into buying it and how they have conducted a review etc etc SO it looks like I did have it! (Signature for card was dated April 2006) But dont know when I cancelled it or how much I paid . Do I still need to do a SAR on this one as havent got dates and amounts just looks like I did have it at some point? Letter has a case ref number on it anyone else had one of these ?
Appreciate any helpPut a claim in with a copy of the letter and ask for them to look at this.

    regards janfrog

Hope this helps (the red bits:D).

    Hi all,

Im new to this but have been an MSE reader for a while.

In February 2012 I received a letter from Santander that said that I had PPI on a loan and as it was between January 14th 2005 and June 30th 2007 that I may have been mis sold the policy and maybe entitled to claim a refund as I have not complained before. They enclosed a questionnaire and I completed it and sent it off which I have been advised by them that they received it on the 22nd February but I have still not received an acknowledgement and its been almost 3 weeks, despite contacting them and being told that they have sent it out 3 times.
They have your claim and they have another 5 weeks to give you a final response.
I took out a loan with Abbey in 2005 (which was cleared in 2010 - had it over 60 months) for debt consolidation over the telephone and it had to go to the underwriters as I wanted to borrow £10,000 but I think that my credit score must have been borderline for them to refer it to the underwriters (or unless there was another reason for this as i dont know). At the time i do remember the man from Abbey telling me a price with and without ppi and i think the reason i agreed to take the ppi was that i felt he was saying if I did not take this out then i would not get the loan and as I desperately needed the money i thought I better had take it. What I did not realise until recently was that PPI covered you for sickness, accidents and redundancy but when I took out the loan I worked for a public service and still do, and we get 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay for sickness and accidents and also we have a redundancy package, which i put on the questionnaire. I feel that the ppi was not properly sold to me as the man from Abbey did not ask me any questions to establish if I was covered elsewhere and even though he gave me a price of the loan with and without ppi this was per month, so I have no idea how much the PPI worked out over the 5 years that I paid for it and the loan. As I say, my loan was £10,000 and I paid £310 for 60 months which worked out £18,600!! I was never offered to look elsewhere for a cheaper alternative either. Do you think I may have a good chance to get my money back? Or do you think they would reject me because I agreed to the PPI on the phone? I have heard they listen to the telephone call is this correct? This ppi was put on at the start of the loan and you paid this to term end with interest, this is front loaded and a mis sell, ring them up and put the claim in.

    Many thanks,

Hope the "red bits" help :D

Hi Amerasall not sure if the advice you are giving in your post #405 is to me .originally posted my query under #372 page 19 of this thread which Di has replied too ....can you offer any more advice ...how do I find the actual lender as have been going round in circles for almost 4years with this!

Loan taken out with 1st national bank now GE FOS involved and said we needed the underwriter as GE not responsible but policy was from loan line who is now no longer trading ....as said to Di am ready for giving up as tried for sooooooo long

    Any help much appreciated
    Boppy

Hi, i just posted up a letter that you should send when you find the insurer.
As Di said, contact who gave you the loan and ask who the insurer was as the FOS need this info, keep at this and do not lose faith, you will get there in the end.
If you need us again, just yell!.

Hi, I hope this is in the correct place.

My daughter was on the verge of going to Court re Bank charges/PPI etc when the 'plug was pulled' a while ago !!

Is it possible to start again with the same info as before. I think we were both exhausted by collating all the info etc we were probably relieved not having to go to court etc at that time.

By accident I came across some of the letters on my computer yesterday, which made me feel perhaps we should try again. These were all composed from Martin's templates.

We have both moved houses now, so I hope she has kept all the info I packed up for her.

You advice will be gratefully received. Thank you in advance.
