    Hi

    I had a couple of MBNA credit cards many years ago (at least 5, probably nearer to 10 years ago) that I was DEFINATELY paying PPI on. Any & all paperwork relating this account have since been lost/misplaced/destroyed now. Two questions;

    1. Can I claim on PPI from an account that old?
    2. How would I go about it without the relevant paperwork?

Any & all help is greatly recieved!

    Thanks

  • Hi,
I have a credit card with Barclaycard for over 10 years, a couple of weeks ago I found a letter from them confirming my wish to stop the PPI cover, but to my surprise the PPI still appeared on my statements till 2010. I understand that I should be claiming only 6years back, my question is: as I asked for the PPI to be cancelled and they didn't and still charged me for it, what should I do? contact them and ask for it from 2003?

I have another card from Halifax and I just realised that I paid a sort of PPI on it but it is old too, I still didn't pay it off but didn't want a replacement back in 2008 (do not want anything to do with credit cards) thought paying them off was already a big hassle so stopped all my cards in 2008.

Is there a template specifically for credits cards please?
    No.
The Ombudsman Questionnaire is designed to be used in all PPI complaints and so many of the questions may seem irrelevant because they are!
Fill in the form, but on questions which don't apply to your complaint just put "not applicable".

You complain about the PPI policy in it's entirety regardless of how old it is.
If you are awarded redress, the Bank will pay a refund of all PPI paid plus 8% simple interest.

The problem comes when the Bank doesn't hold records for some or all of your account (typically closed accounts older than six years), in which case it may ask for you to provide documentation from your own archive or offer a "goodwill payment."

  • Hello,
I have been reading with interest regarding PPI's but have only registered today, so please excuse me if this has already been done.
On the 21st March this year i looged my first complaint with HSBC, and was told they would send a form out to me (FOS questionaire) I never received the letter nor the form so called up the complaint line and was advised to go to the FOS website which i did download and send off, which i did. anyway to cut a long story short, as impatient that i am, called on a regular basis to be told they were in the process of looking at my claim. On the date the initial 8 weeks were up (18th May) i called to see how it was progressing only to be told that the claim had been closed due to not receiving the questionaire. the bloke on the phone couldnt have been more helpful, even telling me that they had looked at at least 4 of my 7 lones and it showed the ppi i had paid and would get back. So i reponed the claim, printed of the questionaire and took it by hand to the bank for internal mail, as advised. they received it the following day. And although they did tell me it could take another 8 weeks, most of the leg work had been done. Well that extra 8 weeks ends on the 19th of this month. and i have been told today it will probably take longer and to expect a letter stating this.
My question is, is anyone aware of an email address that i can send to HSBC stating my annoyance, rather than go through the ombudsman?

    Thank you

    Hi,

Need some help. Tesco have offered me £941 refunded on my credit card. My card is in arrears and I'm on a DMP. Tesco want to apply the refund to by arrears, can they do this?

The banks really are snowed under with PPI complaints at the moment. I'd certainly wait longer before going to the ombudsman (which can take a year or more).
I also doubt sending HSBC a complaint about a complaint at this stage will have any effect as they'd likely take eight weeks to answer it!

I am getting so frustrated waiting for HSBC. Wrote to them first in March and received an offer letter on 10th April. 8th of May I sent them some statements going back further than the term their offer covered. Received a letter 19th June saying they would be back within four weeks (I know that time is not up yet).

My poor postman is becoming nervous that I fancy him, I think and going home traumatised each evening!!!

As I feel they only needed to recalculate the redress, I really don't think it should take this long. Do you feel I just have to sit it out? I know your answer is probably going to be yes, but just needed a rant!!!!

Hi, I know exactly what you mean - I've now been waiting 8 weeks and also have a VERY nervous Postie! I did ring them once to make sure they had received the statements but haven't rung since then. On the subject of ringing them - did you find that the numbers they quoted in their original offer letter ring a few times, give you some recorded information and then unaccountably cut you off? I can't say it's that surprising for HSBC - their customer service has been non-existent for quite some time. Interesting that it hasn't occurred to them that the additional frustration caused by this to people who are already making a complaint about them might lead people to take their business elsewhere.....Oh, no, hang on, that might require some foresight!
