PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hi this is my first time on a forum and hope someone can guide me to the right place to hopefully make a claim.
I took four loans out around 1995, with these loans all from Welcome Finance PPI was mis sold to me..... I was on hard times and a single mother, however I have just tried to speak to a company who deals with PPI's that have been mis sold.... they said that Welcome Finance are not accepting any responsibility for PPI being mis sold to any of their previous customers before 2005.... this is so unfair... is there anyone I can contact please? Your help would be appreciated.0 -
I was just looking for some guidance re a ppi claim relating to a Natwest credit card taken out online circa 2002. I was wondering if there is a list anywhere of when these companies stopped pre-ticking the ppi box?
The reason is that I don't have my paperwork and am certain I wouldn't have selected this myself, so don't know whether I need to do a SAR to obtain paperwork showing a pre-ticked box or just fire away and send off the ppi reclaim letter straight off on the basis that it was likely to be pre-ticked?
Thanks in advance for your help.0 -
If you have reasons for mis sell, the card number and you had PPI, then put the claim in.
Just show you had no need of this PPI and could have paid this card back should the worst happen and so had no need of it.0 -

You did not need a company to do this for you, you get all the info and put the claim in, they only post the claim off and take a % plus Vat.0 -
Many thanks for your speedy reply but can I just ask how I am supposed to show that I didn't need ppi? Ie do I have to prove that I had good sick pay or savings or do they just have to take my word for it?
The reason I ask is that I have moved jobs several times since then so it would be difficult to prove this.
Many thanks.0 -
Hi
Just wondering if someone could give me some advice. Contacted hsbc via email asking for info regarding claiming PPI on a flexi loan I took out about 20 years ago but I remember them saying I had to take the PPI out in order to get the loan. Just received a letter saying they cannot find any evidence that PPI was attached to the product and due to the data protection act, HSBC cannot keep records indefinitely therefore the PPI commenced over 6 years ago, any records may have been destroyed and for them to proceed further I need to provide them with documentation confirming the protection held and accompanying statements confirming payments made. Obviously I do not have any of this with it being that long ago.
It also states that if I remain dissatisfied then i have the right to refer this matter to the financial ombudsman.
Is there anything I can do about this or would I be wasting my time? All help gratefully received!
Thanks in advance.0 -

The bank don't have records.
It's the end of your twenty year old complaint.

Hi, this may be a bit of a long shot, and it may have been discussed previously but the threads are so long it could take quite sometime to read everything.
My enquiry is... My wife took out a loan from Barclays (before I met her), but she defaulted on the loan because the payments were more than she thought they would be. She kept the original documentation and when I read it I could see there was PPI included in the loan but she had no idea what this was or why she was paying it. She's from the Philippines and was quite new to this country at the time. To me it is quite clear she didn't have a clue she would be paying this. However, because she defaulted on the loan, is it worth still trying to claim back the PPI she did pay?
Thanks for reading.
