PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

I had a total of 5 loans between 1999 and 2001 (consolidation chain loans) and managed to pay the load off in full in 2004. Thought I'd have a go at re-claiming PPI. Sent off a claim form on April 17th , and still hadn't heard anything , so decided to call Welcome Finance for an update. I was informed that my accounts are 'time barred' meaning they were all started before the Feb 2003 deadline. The advisor said I could take it to the FSO but they would likely reject my claim as well.
Do I contact the FSO ? Is this just a fob off tactic Welcome Finance use ?0 -
Just rang HSBC for an update, know it's only been four weeks, but I'm impatient. Didn't know whether they would say that I am being turned down, but have said that I will be receiving a revised offer!!!! So pleased, but still impatient. Thanks again for all the help here, will let you know when I hear how much. In the meantime, on with the other claims.0

While going back through some old bank statements , I found reference to an old mortgage , taken out around 1994/5 and paid off in 2004 when I sold my flat. I have the account number , is this enough info to call HBOS up and lodge a claim for PPI mis-selling , on the grounds I wasn't aware it was optional and there was a cooling off period ?
Any advice appreciated0 -

Welcome finance are a right bunch you can't be timebarred as you only found out about miselling in april of last year and that's only 1 year not 6, contact them again and tell them this and re put in your complaint for misold these would have also been front loaded as well i believe welcome finance have now gone into administration so contact the fscs on this if you don't get any joy talking to your contact again.0 -

Thanks cappo. I only sent the claim in April this year, so it's less than a year !!
I spoke to the FSCS claim line , who advised me to call Welcome direct. I did and the told me the claims were time barred as the loans were taken out before 2003. They also told me I may be able to go direct to the insurance firms, but he said again it was unlikely.0 -
Thanks, can't believe it, you were spot on!! After all the running around i phoned the complaints department and got all 3 agreement numbers from a very helpful lady :j She said they would send out the claims forms but can you tell me do I still need to send the SAR to get breakdown of the loans and PPI payments?
All you need to make a reclaim are your loan agreement numbers and your reasons for miss- sell. I remember now this is Blackhorse.
Use the single premium for your reason for miss-sell, this is the most upheld of all .
You don't have to wait for the forms to arrive you could just download them from this website and save yourself some time.0 -

So here we are guys restarting on this thread this post will just give you a post or two to latch on to.
thanks for this - i've really struggled to find where to post this question. even now, i'm not sure i'll find the answers when they come. however, lets ask and worry about that later.
i've got 3 ppi's claims in, all of whom are saying that they were pre-6 years ago so they have no records even tho two of them say they know ppi was paid (how?). is it worth my pursuing them. i've already forwarded one to the FSO but was this a waste of time? I have no paperwork relating to the accounts any more but, as i say, two have said they know i paid ppi... any advice anyone?0 -
Hi my husband applied for a PPI refund about 5 weeks ago does he have to wait the 8 weeks before contacting them or can he contact them for an update. Thank you0
