PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

I have tried to phone HMRC today to inform them of PPI refunds (I owe about £240 which as before they would take from my wages every 4 weeks).
Was on hold for about half an hour, no answer, do you think this is because today is Tax Day?
Also, will I get in trouble for not informing them in time for tax day or that only applicable for people who are self employed?
Thanks0 -

Not about an offer! They sent a letter saying not to accept an offer from tesco? Suppose some banks give you the money direct rather than dealing with ppi claims company's?0 -

Thanks Steve, that's just what I wanted to hear:D:D
Would the banks I am claiming against know this or would I have to inform them?
Thanks again
They should know this, as magpiecottage and moneyeptitude say it can depend on the circumstances namely how exactly you settled with your creditors etc, but hey give it a go at the very worst if they do try to take your money they can't touch your interest, but I still think you'll be alright but this is just my opinion, you might wish to seek legal advice on this, good luck,we're all rooting for you.0 -
I'm not too sure to be honest as the official receiver dealt with everything and after the sale of my house my loans ect were settled. On my credit report it says "payment received as a full and final settlement Although the payment would not fully clear the balance" and the status in settled. so just wondered if I was successful would I get any money back?
Thanks again!
I still think that if you were to win you'd get your money back, i've never been made bankrupt but i did a full and final settlement on all my credit cards and bank loans with a full and final settlement still owing money £11,000 to HSBC in fact and i have since claimed full redress off them and others including MBNA, i know it's not bankruptcy but i still owed them money technically, my take on it is a full and final finishes your obligation, as i say the boys might well be right but this is my take on it but i'm not a legal expert.0 -
Hi went through money boomerang to claim my ppi on a loan, silly I know! Anyway tesco have sent my a letter with a offer of £1500! So my question is do I accept this or go through money boomerang? Will they know tesco have offered me a refund and try to charge me? Unsure really?
Tanker, it is likely that boomerang will have been sent the letter so they will be aware of the offer. they usually tell you if the offer is correct and then tell you if you should accept of decline and then they will issue you with an invoice0 -
I had a mortgage with Bradford and Bingley with which I was sold PPI. How would I go about claiming? Would it be Santander or the Financial ombudsman? Any ideas?
Sueb109 you need to go to santander they will deal with it for you, FOS always say to go to the lender before they can get involved! hope this helps0 -

The situation is that the firm can use any redress to go against debts written off, defaulted or in arrears. In the case of bankruptcy and redress coming from payments made prior to bankruptcy, they can send it to the OR.
The reason you get some cases where this doesnt happen is that the firm may not know you are a discharge bankrupt or their record keeping is poor and staff knowledge weak (lots of contract workers in at the moment with only basic knowledge). So, you do get cases where some people do get paid out when they shouldnt.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Thanks for everyone's advice, I really appreciate it.
Fingers crossed!0
