It should be the FIRST thing you do when making your complaint.
I've never trusted those Banks who take the reasons for mis-selling over the 'phone. It means there is no paper trail of your complaint.
Ring again and ask for the reference number of your complaint and write this on the top of your questionnaire.

I also found this dealing with LTSB mark it just doesn't get sorted on the phone does it, they put words in your mouth for starters.

    Hi,

I know this has probably been asked but I have a loan with Welcome Finance and have been contacted to tell me I can claim (kind of them to tell me!), however I had a car with them also that was paid up in November, would I be able to claim back on that?

    Many Thanks for your help.
    Matt

Don't see why not as long as you have reasons to claim misold.

Advice please :-) My Husband had a PPI claim rejected on 6th January by RBS Mastercard. We wrote back to them asking them to reconsider and making clear why we thought they should. That letter was posted on 8th Jan. He phoned 6 weeks and was told the letter had only just been logged on their system. He has phoned twice in the last couple of weeks and has been told that it is being dealt with and that the person dealing with it was awaiting for information (no indication what or where from) but no one could discuss on the phone.

It is now over twelve weeks since his letter and the initial claim took well over 12 weeks for a response. Is there any other way that we can chase this up? We feal that we have now wasted time when this could have been with the FOS.

    Thanks

    Tina

TBH I have no idea if it was single premium? Looking back on what few statements with the payments on that I have, I can only see one payment going out toward the loan. So does that give you any clue?
That is Single premium, use this for mis sell.

I would "go with the flow! FOS can take up to a year, if they uphold then RBS could delay paying out.

Exactly. The telephone may be convenient (and definitely useful for people who have literacy problems), but it's full of pitfalls as it allows the Bank to consider cases on the basis of a two minute conversation.
The Ombudsman's questionnaire was designed to gather all the pertinent facts so that cases could be assessed more quickly. It's really not wise to circumvent that.

If whoever you claimed against was forced to write of any debt as a result of bankruptcy then they will almost certainly retain it. In those circumstances it is likely that FOS would hold that it was "fair and reasonable" for them to do so..
Yes, I've seen many discharged bankrupts complaining here that their Bank has upheld their PPI complaint but withheld any redress.
