    Hi all,

    After some advice please.

I took out a loan with HSBC many moons ago, probably about 2003, it was a Flexiloan that I had all but paid back when they said, 'You do realise you can keep using the money like an overdraft don't you!?' Oh really, great :j Or so I thought at the time

Fast forward to where I've maxed out that loan, again, then lost my job, got depressed and gone back to HSBC to up my overdraft to pay my rent. 'Oh no don't do that, consolidate your loan and overdraft into.... blah blah blah.......!' they said. So I did, foolishly and then when it came to a time when I couldn't pay one month, they threatened baliffs etc and basically forced my partner to take out another consolidated loan to cover my one/two.:mad::mad:

So (finally, sorry get rather irate when thinking about it all!) my question is, I cannot find the loan agreements for my loans, however, I have both the account numbers and the PPI ref number's off of a statement. Will this information be enough or will I have to contact them with these reference numbers to get some terms sent out?

    Thanks

Hi goose you should have enough there to do your reclaims, send them a questionairre for each complaint giving as many details as you can you should'nt need your t&c's remember to keep copies

    Hi All,

I am new to this forums, thanks for all your very useful information posted.

In 2002 I wanted to move my mortgage from one lender to another and in the process I was adviced by Abbey or Alliance & Leicester
person (I don't remember) that it will be cheaper for me if I will use their mortgage protection plan even if the mortgage was/will be with another lender.

He/she (I dont remember) gave me the online link to apply. At the time I was employed as a telecom Engineer and our company was going through a number of redundancies between 2001 and 2005. I told them that our company was going through a number of redundancies and he/she told me that won't matter because I already had a mortgage and also now I will have a mortgage protection cover which I can use to obtain a good deal from different lenders when re-mortgaging..

He/she gave me an online link which I used to apply for this cover. I don't remember much of what we discussed but I applied for the cover online and I think they sent me papers to sign later.

Initially I had only uneployment cover; I later, I think after two years added sickness cover and life cover. At the time my employer was also providing these two covers.

in 2005 I was made redundant and I immediatelly got another job which I have till now.

I still have this cover although now I know that I if I had tried to claim, most likely they would have refused my claim. I think i was mis-sold this insurance.

What is the chance of being sucessful in my claim? What reasons can I use to make my case strong?

Is by buying online going to be a factor against my claim?

    Thanks.

Hi - i would be grateful for an advice here. When i bought my first flat 8 years ago i went through the mortgage broker Charcol. I took out a Cheltenham and Gloucester mortgage and the Charcol broker told me i needed PPI - it was compulsory and i needed it to get the mortgage. This was verbal and i have never taken PPI since with a mortgage as i realised this is not true. Since it was Charcol and not C&G who sold me this - would i have grounds for a claim? Thanks in advance

I can take an educated guess and assume that "calculations" are for the amount of redress you will receive. But I can't guarantee I'm correct.
:p:p:p Well they would hardly calculate a " get stuffed letter" would they :p:p

Know it is a long shot :D:D but did you pay the PPI in with the loan payment each month?, if you did then this is single premium PPI and you paid this back over the loan term with interest, use this as a reason for mis sell, this is the most upheld of all PPI reclaims.

    Need some advice please.

I dug out some old bank statements before Xmas and found a few annual statements that Lloyds provided. They showed I had a loan for 5 years for 10k with PPI added. The loan covered 1997 to 2002. I filled in the FOS questionnaire and sent it off in early December complaining that as a public servant I did not need cover as the redundancy & sick cover provided was more than adequate.

In early Feb I received a letter offering a standard £1200 refund as they were unable to track down any records and asked if I had any further details to pass them copies - and phone to reject the £1200. This I did, as I had since uncovered actual loan statements including the opening one showing some £1986 front loaded for PPI. I sent copies of all the relevant documents off (registered naturally) on 03/02 and were received by LLoyds on 06/02.

Since then I have heard nothing apart from an e-mail they sent in response to me chasing saying they had received the documents and my case was being reviewed - this was 4 weeks ago. I have since sent another chaser e-mail but have had nothing back.

I am sorely tempted to refer this to FOS as I guess the 8 weeks is up but am aware it will take donkeys for the FOS to get around to it and Lloyds may actualy do something in the meantime. My cynical side thinks that Lloyds are content for it to go to FOS because of the time elapsed since the loan started?!?

Any advice & help or similar experiences welcome

    Thanks!

  • Hi All

I wonder if anyone can help me. I had a secured loan with Argos via First Plus and today I recieved a refund of my premium totalling just over £7300.00 so very happy with that result. However I have read somewhere although I cant remember where that you can also ask them to refund the interest they will continue to charge me on the loan. The PPI was only for 5 years whilst the loan was for a term of 240 months! Does anyone know if this is true and if so how do I go about it? I'm new to the site so be gentle with me and I hope I've posted this in the right place! LOL. Thanks in advance.

Hi all, I have now sent both my cc complaints to the fos as egg and lloyds both rejected my claims( typical I don't have any luck lol) do you think I have any chance of these being upheld by the fos, I told both that I had generous sick pay benefits from work and I joint live insurance with my ex-partner, are the fos still taking a very long time to get back or has it started moving bit quicker now. Thanks michelle

If you have sent proof to Lloyds I would wait a awhile, people have won mis sell fro the 90s so you never know.
Did you use the single premium reason for mis sell, this is the PPI put on at the start of the loan and repaid to term with interest, this is the most upheld of all reclaims.

What year was this loan taken out and who with (Argos or FP) , did you get the cash back and what were the calculations they gave you for the redress?.
