Hi,
I'm new to this forum so please be patient with me if I'm messing up the flow!
Can anyone tell me why HSBC etc are being allowed to delay PPI repayments? My claim has been going on for months via the Ombudsman. I received a letter from the Ombudsman recently saying HSBC hasn't settled yet. How can they get away with treating their customers like this when other banks etc have settled?
~thank you

Hi
I have been trying to find out if there was any PPI/MPI on my mortgage with Alliance & Leicester. Contacted them for details of all my accounts by doing a SAR and they have sent me all the details but I can see no trace of any mention of it the paperwork. I have therefore contacted them today and asked the question to be told that A&L have never had PPI on their mortages. Is this correct??
ThanksClaire0 -
Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can help! An urgent response would be gratefully appreciated.
I took out my credit card with MBNA in 2004 and had PPI attached which I never knew I was paying for. At the time of taking out the card I was in full time employment which would have provided me with benefits due to illness or sickness.
Looking back I thought that this application was made using one of those pre-paid ticked forms however after a complaint to MBNA, I have since been advise this was done online, and that I actually ticked a box for PPI. They responded saying they would not uphold my complaint as they feel I was aware of what I was getting (which I was not - I was 20 at the time).
Do you think I should still go to the FOS as I had no explanation as to what PPI was and whether I needed it, nor did receive any proof from MBNA that I actually applied online and ticket the PPI box. Would I stand a chance in winning (I have to go to FOS soon as I had my response from MBNA in Oct 2011).
Thanks for your help...0 -

They then put me thru to another company, pinnacle insurance who they say delt with all of their ppi policy's.
Does anyone know if this is correct? did anyone have ppi thru A&L that was taken off thru their mortgage account and not on a seperate direct debit?
thanks
Please see my message below with regards to PPI on mortgage and what I was told on the phone this morning. Not sure if they are telling me the truth when they say that no ppi was ever added to A&L mortages.

Hi i took two car loans out in 1999 for a term of 4 years ending in 2003 i have the reference numbers and the address of the company and when i took the ppi out i was vtold if i did not take it i could not have the loan.
so i wrote to them [HARTWELL FINANCE LTD] and i recieved a reply back yesterday they stated
" hartwell finance is regulated by the financial service authority with respect to sale of insurance products within hartwell plc. Unfortunetly the regulatory regime does not extend back prior to 14th january 2005 at which point the FSA had no formal interest in the sale of payment protection policies.
Regrettably we are unable to help you further in this matter as the FSA's recent guidelines were not in existance at the time of the obligations to you refer were in not in force"
Should i contact the onbudsman or are hartwells correct
thanks0 -

Hi All
my wife had two business loans with the nat west and took out ppi on both, she became ill and we had to claim, One loan was paid in full the other is outstanding to the value ofabout a £1,000. When my wife queried this, they always replied there wasnt eneough money in the account to cover other items so in effect the loan payment was ignored by the nat west and they used the insurence payment to cover other items, ANY ADVISE ON HOW THE PROCEED WITH THIS GOING FORWARD?0 -
Hi all.
I took out a mortgage with Yorkshire Bank in 2004. I was informed at the time that I HAD to take out critical illness/life insurance which was set up by Yorkshire Banks to Legal and General Insurance.
Would I be eligible to claim with it not being the mortgage lender? If so, do I claim from YB or Legal and General?? Thanks.0 -
