I have had a couple of loans and credit cards over the past few years, I can't remember who with but I believe a credit report will tell me. But then how do I find out if I has PPI on these loans. I think I did especially on one but am not certain.

    Thanks

So I have done a check and I have taken 2 loans, one in 2006 and one in 2010. Also 3 credit cards.

Both loans were with HSBC, the credit cards, one was a Mastercard - the credit check doesn't say who it was with? One other credit card I still have was from HSBC, I believe I had PPI on this one previously and another current credit card I have with Capital One (May have had PPI on this at some point too).

So as I do not have any of the original paperwork how do I find out if I took out a PPI?

    Thanks

    Hi all,
My husband and I had a credit card with MBNA for several years - this was defaulted in approx 2005, which arranged a payment plan with them and finally paid this off completely last month (yay!).
When we defaulted we noticed that we were paying for PPI - we asked that this be cancelled, which it wasn't immediately, when they eventually did cancel it they offered us a goodwill gesture of some of the previous payments made. This was not what we have paid in ppi payments for all the years we had the card -so would it be possible to claim the other payments back?
    Many thanks!

Hi, lets be very clear here --- MBNA SOLD countless thousands of fraudulent policies. Their staff were aggressive and told lies about what the policies would cover SO THEY COULD EARN HIGH COMMISSIONS, many were through St Andrews, an insurance arm of Lloyds based in Southern IRELAND ???

If you have a policy from St Andrews IT IS NOT WORTH THE PAPER IT IS WRITTEN ON, just another LTSB scam and fraud

Regardless, MBNA have confirmed you had a PPI hence the so called" goodwill payment".

MBNA DO NOT DO GOODWILL, they are owned by the Bank Of America, the most hated bank in the USA.

So, the shoe is on the other foot for you now, you have paid them in full so now is the time to reclaim EVERY PPI payment ever made to them plus 8% interest, it will add to a lot of money for you.

See the checklist below, if you answer one or more as a NO, contact them and request all PPI payments plus interest are refunded to you

*Did YOUR BANK explain the full cost of the PPI when you took out the loan?
*Did you specifically ask YOUR BANK for PPI?
*Did YOUR BANK make clear that PPI was optional?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about your medical history?
*Did YOUR BANK ask you about any existing payment cover?
*Did you know that YOUR BANK added a PPI policy to your loan?
*Do you think YOUR BANK treated you fairly?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you have any existing medical conditions?
*Did YOUR BANK ask if you were entitled to sick pay from your employer?
*Did YOUR BANK add the PPI without your permission

    Hello all,
I checked my credit file to see if i could find a account number for a black horse loan but was unsuccessful so i made notes of the dates. The loan ended in October 2006, I called black horse and presented them with the details and requested the account number. The very nice lady on the other end checked on her computer and said there was no information on this loan. She checked the address and also a previous address but still no luck. Surely they should have this info as it is less than 6 yrs since the loan finnished. Is this just a stalling tactic ? Has anyone else experienced this problem.:(

    Regards

Hi, you have to remember that Black Horse are part of the Lloyds Banking group who seem to make it their purpose in life to fob people off ..... its wearing very thin now LTSB ????

You can SAR them for the full information which does cost £!0 but they are obliged to give you the information.

If you think that Blackhorse sold you a policy that was false, then go and get your money back.

The reason why LLOYDS BANKING GROUP made a huge loss is because they are refunding fraudulent insurance policies, Lloyds, Halifax, Blackhorse, St Andrews insurance are all party to this major fraud

Have faith, read this and see the chart about upheld complaints by the FOS against these fraudulent banks, many cases 99% were upheld in favour of the consumer .... the banks dont seem to be seeing the trend, THE BANK ARE THE LOSERS

Sorry Gemster to keep you waiting, been out tonight but just got this. Have done a calculation for you and

You would get back ALL PPI paid + 8% standard interest and some banks pay back the APR but lots don't

    PPI £1.396.50
    APR £ 491.56
    8% £ 223.44

    TOTAL £2,111.50

You may have to knock the APR off this so between
    £1,619.94 and
    £2,111.50
    ;)

Please DON'T use a claims company otherwise you can kiss goodbye to at least 25% of this + tax and still have to pay HMRC their cut @ 20%. It's easy to do it yourself

Hi hope you have been somewhere nice :)

Would you please advise me? I had few bank loans in 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2007 and all been paid after a year or so of taking the loans out. I have just found out that I have been charged huge amount of PPI on my credit card since 80s, but I have no paper works nor kept policies.
How and where can I obtain the information on how much I was paying PPI for all those policies and credit card? How can I go about claiming those PPIs please?
  • I have a mortgage and a personal loan from Santander. I thought this issue probably wasn't applicable to me for the following reasons:

I arranged the mortgage through a broker, who advised me to take out PPI from a third party (which I did), so assume there was no PPI from the bank.

I opted out of PPI at the point of application for the loan(online), again taking it out with a third party.

I was feeling pretty sure I have nothing to reclaim, but those pesky sales people keep trying to convince me that I may have, so I'm starting to wonder..
  • Just a quick question about Halifax. Do you need to sign anything to accept an offer?

I'm pretty sure we were mis-sold PPI. I phoned to complain and it's being looked into. A few people have said they've had a letter and an offer and then just have to wait.

The reason I'm asking is my ex lives in Australia so getting him to actually sign something is going to be a hassle. Much easier to get it paid into our disused joint account (also with the Halifax) and just split it fairly from there.

I'm also having difficulty getting hold of him (long story involving him being scum) so if the worst came to the worst I could just send a cheque to his parents. However, if I have to track him down, send something to him, get him to send it back and then forward it on it's going to take ages and be a nightmare.
  • I'm having problems with the Northern Bank (the Belfast-based Danish-owned bank, not the Rock). I have a Visa card with them dating back to sometime in the 90s and only cancelled the PPI on it last year when I realised I was wasting my money on it.

I wrote to the bank asking for the paperwork for the original agreement using the Moneysaver template. They wrote back asking which section of the Consumer Credit Act my letter referred to - there are only two sections mentioned in the template, one of them applies to credit cards and one to other loans.

Their letter was unsigned and gives only the address of the corporate HQ.

This seems to me to be a delaying tactic. I've written back to them making absolutely clear which section of the act applies.

Under the 12 working day rule I reckon they have until Tuesday next to get in touch.

If they don't, how do I proceed? If I don't have the paperwork and they're stonewalling me, how can I progress my PPI claim?
