  • I'm sure I read in the past that when you start collecting Avios with a new partner that you get 2000 bonus points. I can't see this anywhere on their site now and starting to think I am going mad. Can anyone more in the know clarify this?

    Thanks!

I just got round to checking my account and I did get the bonus 50%. Hope you did too. Nice not to have to chase something!

Yeah I got it too - hopefully the bonus 2000 points will be credited soon as well, at the end of the quarter I guess.

It's too late for Shell but you may still have time to do it with Tesco, Lloyds and BA. You need to get points credited to your account before 30th November though which may be pushing it.

    Hi

Why is it too late for Shell? I thought points in the next Shel quarter which starts on 1 October also qualified for the 2000 bonus point, or have I misunderstood?

Maybe I've misunderstood but I looked at the T&Cs a while ago and it said the next time Shell transfer points across to Avios is after the deadline for this quarter. So even though you've earnt them in that time, they won't appear in your account in time.

Double check that though - maybe I read it wrong.

Yep, also says credited to your acount within 28 days so wouldn't trust it to go in before 30th September. Still can get 2000 bonus ones for it being the first time though! Excellent.

Thanks. I think I will drop them an email.
  • Hi All,

I would like to warn anyone thinking of converting their Tesco Clubcard vouchers to Avios points that they will not get good value, at least as far as booking Eurostar via Avios is concerned. I have just booked a 3 night stay in Paris over New Year for my family of 5 including Eurostar travel and hotel accommodation. This cost me £419.00 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers converted to Avios points plus £855 in cash. Unfortunately I found out after I had booked that I could have got the exact same holiday for £128 less if I had booked directly with Eurostar. This means I would have been better off spending my Tesco vouchers at face value in Tesco and then using the money I saved to put towards the holiday booked on the Eurostar website. We have had many good holidays using Tesco Rewards at 3 times the value of the vouchers. I feel totally conned out of the value of my vouchers by Avios!!
  • Another point to note - following on from my first post above - is that the Eurostar fare to Paris is only 9000 points if you book a train leaving St Pancras before 9 am. After that the number of Avios points needed goes up considerably.
  • Could someone please explain,in my quest to collect vital Avios points to fly down south,am I better to get petrol from Tesco's using my Clubcard,or from Shell using their card ?

    Puzzled ?

    Many thanks !
  • e-rewards definitely worth signing up for - I've just converted e-rewards earned in past year for 2000 Avios. The trick is to enter every survey they send you as even if you don't meet the criteria to complete the survey you get at least 25 points just for starting the survey. I get the impression that the more surveys you start the more they send you.
