Avios Points Boosting guide discussion

Hi, does anyone know who I can complain to about Avios? I recently purchase for my business 2 Ipads. I bought them from Selfridges when there was a double points off on. So instead of 8 points per £1 it was 16.
I have been trying to get the points credited and they keep delaying me saying that they are investigating it with Selfridges. They asked for a VAT receipt and have sent me several emails after I have chased trying to find out what is happening.
Today I have received this:
Thank you for your recent email.
We are sorry but we are unable to credit the Avios you requested below to your account. Please be aware that your purchase is ineligible for rewards as stated in the Special Terms:
"...Audio visual products and gift cards are ineligible for customer reward"
No copy of the terms of attached and I have no idea to which terms they are referring, having not seen any. If this is the case I'm confused as to why I was not made aware of this when I first raised the issue. Surely they would have known 2 months ago if they are the genuine terms.
Any advice? This is a substantial amount of miles.0 -
Did you agree to some terms before clicking through to purchase?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

That term is on the Selfridges page of the Avios website (the place you clicked through from to get the points). It's still there now.
https://www.avios.com/gb/en_gb/collect/onlineShopLV.do?cid=13&type=OSSViewCategory&cname=computers-software (EDIT: That link doesn't seem to work but search for Selfridges and it's on there)0 -
Hey, thanks both. I am confident that I checked anything that came up to ensure that I was definitely eligible for the reward because I know that some stores won't pay out for Ipads (Apple for example) I think through BA estore, so I was specifically trying to find a way to get the miles either through BA estore or Avios estore, that was eligible, so I would have read any terms.
I do not recall the page that now comes up for Selfridges coming up when I made the purchase. There was a banner on the estore home page, with a link to Selfridges and thought it had taken me straight to the Selfridges store. When you click shop now, the screen that comes up looks completely different, as I actually took a screen shot of that page just in case I had any issues.
How do I know that Avios have not added on that 'special term' since because so many people have bought Ipads? Is this a lost cause or is there any way I can find out when that 'special term' was added?0 -
Not really a point booster, but its worth noting that you could win a holiday to Dubai if you convert your Tesco points to Avios before the end of the year:

Hi all, we've written a new Avios Points Boosting guide to help you earn flights (plus taxes) worldwide and max points' value when redeeming.
How did you find the info? Do you have any other ways to boost your points? What are your top ways to spend Avios points?
Thanks for your help!
MSE Jenny
Probably worth refreshing the guide, as many of the offers are out of date.
For instance, I dont think you can get sign up bonuses with Shell or the Lloyds Duo credit card any longer0 -

Because that would be a blatant case of deliberate fraud (and easily traceable) so isn't something a company the size of Avios would ever do.
Can you post the screenshot you have of the page? It's unusual that a banner on the homepage would take you directly to Selfridges instead of to a page explaining the offer.0 -

No because you pay a £1 booking fee when you buy through them. If you're spending a very big amount on train tickets I guess that £1 could be worth the amount of Avios you get back (though I'd still personally rather get 6.06% cashback through Topcashback buying via Southern Railway with no booking fee).0 -

You're probably right. Thanks for replying. Just annoyed with myself for not being more thorough.0
