We are thinking of numbers. We did joke about latin names of primates (I've been known as monkey from birth & when OH found out several years ago he found it highly amusing...until I told him he looked like a chimpanzee....our cats get affectionately refferred to as marmots ( g*d knows where it came from, just evolved)), but we're thinking numbers would be simpler. While the immediate family might 'get' the joke, I think the rest would be left wondering why we had such long table names, irritated at the time it took them to find them & bemused as to what some of them meant ( would be no fun to choose the obvious ones) & many of them look like drugs or diseases to me!!!

That said, some of the suggestions above could work very well for people with themes.

We are having the tables named after herbs, with a pot plant of the herb (and a sign with it's name) on each table. The pot plants will then become the start of a herb garden, so will be a reminder of the day.

    What a fab idea!!!!

I was all set to number our tables (purely cause it's easier) but then OH saw the sweetie decoration thread and fell in love with the chupa chup trees. As a result, our tables will now be named after sweeties, each with a sweetie tree in the centre. Guess who's off to hobbycraft tomorrow to find some oasis balls so that I can practise them :)

thats a really nice one debbie

could you not do that with orchids jemb?
We've already sorted the centre pieces which are orchids, but are all the same with twisted willow in a bowl. Plus the names are odd, they're all latin. I can imagine someone not being able to pronounce!

We got married at Chester Zoo so went for animals but decided to do collective nouns of them. The animals we chose were to match the little clip on toys in the zoo shop that we bought for each name stand, and we made signs that included photos of the animals that we'd taken ourselves on various visits to the zoo in previous years

Same! Think i might use word numbers ie one, two etc.
  • We both like The Beatles and Take That, and their lyrics will feature in our wedding stationary so I'm thinking of album or tour names ie Beautiful World, Greatest Day, Magical Mystery Tour etc (avoiding Sgt peppers lonely hearts) lol. Though we will have a real policeman called Pepper there lol!

We are naming our tables after retro sweets. The table centre pieces are going to be a sweet tree after the name of the table.

Going to have a go at making them this weekend x
  • Countries or landmarks in south america as we will be going there for 6 months after the wedding.
we have love enough to light the streets.
