Had toad in the hole for dinner today, the batter was a bit stodgy but I smothered it in onion gravy and every one ate it :). Just served it with some peas and sweetcorn.

We popped some popcorn in a pan for pudding much to the kids delight.

I have the dubious job of teaching Home Ec and often find that the pupils write down lists of 'suggestions' as being what's required. When we do fruit salad I usually give them a list and say any five (or more) of these or anything else your mum has in, uses etc and I often find some will have written a list that includes strawberries (in Dec), two types of grapes, fresh pineapple, pomegranate (we usually taste some 'different fruits' in the planning lesson) and a mango. Completely leaving out the sensible choices. I now often print the ingredients out on big labels and paste them in their planners to avoid this. If this is not what's happened though I would definitely have a chat to the teacher.
Thanks Bunny, the lesson is tomorrow now & I've caved & bought a mixed pack for 1.79. The rest of the recipes fine money wise & they only do food tech for half the year. Apparently dd could have chosen hummus & veggie dips, so that would have been a cheaper option.

Thanks to everyone for their lovely words of support! My budget will be challenging, but I have motivation to stick to it. I only have a little freezer box, so full on batch/once a month cooking (as I used to do) is out of the question, but I can do a mince base, & make that into bolognese/chilli/shepherds pie, etc, as the mood takes me. I have a glut of eggs at the moment (getting about 8 or 9 A DAY from the chooks - the geese are sitting on theirs, so none from them (but goslings soon, hurrah!) so that saves £, and I am going to get my veggies planted soon, which will help greatly. Off to do Shopping List - catch you all later!

    Hi all

Another spend of £3.39 in Mr S today which will cover lunches.
Having chilli con carne with things in stock for dinner this evening and it's my flatmates turn to cook tomorrow.
After this it will be GC spend free since I'll be away and using entertainment holiday money spends. :D

    Hope everyone is well. :)

    Hi all

Firstly re A1d!, they change the Six on a Sunday, but not the website until the Monday. Having said that, I had a look today and they still haven't updated! I did get the info though:

    All 39p:
    4 Baking Pots
    Onions
    Cucumber
    Celery
    Swede
    Beetroot

Right, onto my update. I spent £1 yesterday from GC. This means £3.38 from Week 3 now.

This was on Kara, which is a non-dairy milk substitute made from coconuts. It's usually £1.39 but on offer at the mo for £1... Unfortunately as a side effect of reading all the veggie propaganda I put myself off milk completely, so I thought I'd try a substitute while they're on offer. It's VERY good, has a slight hint of coconut (which I adore anyway so double bonus!). The downside is it's really very creamy, and I'm used to skimmed milk, so think I'll be watering it down. Which is good as it'll go further!

So I'm definitely going to be getting this from now on. Since it's got no need to be fridged before you open it and has a really long use by date and is on the offer, I'm going to buy enough for the rest of the month today (6 packs), and allocate it to each week's spend. I'll update later when I've done that.

Having rejigged my meal plan yet again this week to incorporate what I have in/needs using first, I actually only need to buy fruit in addition to the Kara, so pleased about that!

Will update further after I get back from work later and have done the shops!

MrT has delivered this morning at a grand total of £30. That includes 4x6pts milk @ £6.96, 2x700g mince and 1x1.5kg chicken in the 3 for £10.

I am going to divide the mince into 3 and bulk it out with carrots and lentils. Will do Chilli, Spag Bol and Cottage Pie with it. The chicken will be bunged in the SC for a roast, the left overs will go into a risotto. If I have any more left, depending on my gannets then I will do a curry.

Will be having a Rosspa order tomorrow.

Thank you LC for the super 6. Might have to swap sm this week for a!di, we get through loads of baking tates and cucumbers and I love beetroot.

DH went to Mr M at the weekend for milk, bread flour, potatoes and rolls which came to £4.71. So sig updated. Then my folks came for DS birthday tea (pork in cider in slow cooker with enough left for tonight, yum) and brought all the stuff from their freezer they don't fancy: a veg pizza, loads of sausages, 700g mince and lots of ice cream. Honestly, it felt like Christmas!:D

So this weeks meals are covered, it's just the usual milk, fruit, veg and packed lunch stuff I need.

    Have a frugaltastic week all.:)
