    Hi guys

Could someone please help me with a recipe from Cheap Family Recipes?

It's the Velvety/Green Pea Soup and I'm confused because it doesn't say where to put the flour in! I really want to make this in March as I have creamed coconut that severely needs using!

Here's the link - could some kind-hearted soul advise me please!

    Thanks in advance :D

    1. Pay £650 off overdraft (£ 288/ £650)
    2. Lose 12 lbs (4.5/ 12)
    3. Use YNAB everyday (6/44)
  • Hmm, I see what you mean LC, it doesn't say does it. Maybe add into the marmitey stock? - (but that's just a guess as I'm not that good a cook :))

Spent £41.03 so far - £4.44 in Mr T, £7.41 in Ald* and a further £29.18 in Mr T. It's a 5 week month for me so will really have to keep an eye on what I'm spending.

I bought a box of chocs from Mr T's for my dad the other day and the price on the shelf was £6.00, but I got charged £8. When I realised the day after, I went back in and got a DTD refund so was well pleased! I also took a couple of receipts in that OH had got and forgotten to get the points on, and the lady at CS checked them really carefully as she said 'some people just pick them off the floor or off the end of the til and try and get the points for them'. I said 'really? I've never heard of that before' :rotfl:

Next shopping day is Friday so will try and stay out of the SMs til then.

Elsiepac, re velvety Pea Soup I would add the flour when frying the onion and peas, soit forms a kind of roue. and thengradually add your marmite stock.Or you could,if you have it, use cornflour
    after everying is added.

how strange, specifically self raising flour, it is there for thickening. So i would second what other posters have put make a roux with it. (it is quite a lot of flour though and needs to be cooked out and I cant see how it would be in this recipe)
  • So far no spends in Marchs budget (thank god as it's not even march...!) although we will need milk tomorrow at least so it's not going to last long. Made a chickpea and chicken curry (The shreds from 3 sad chicken drumsticks from the freezer, 33p can of chickpeas, 15p value curry sauce, onion, frozen peppers and value rice.. mmmm) for tea and leftovers for tomorrow, and used up a butterscotch angel delight from the storecupboard so feeling pleased to be back on track. :o

well, we've done the usual "pop out for a pint of milk" and fallen into the trap of "we might as well get a few more bits while we're 'ere!" so today after speaking to some fab people on here ive done a full months shop (hopefully!) through mysupermarket.com - first time ive used the website and i LOVE it!! So will update my signature with total amount spent and hope in March i wont need to spend anymore! But we are on our first month.......

I'm also going to give the cats their own part in my sig so I can track cat food spends, they've spent £24 so far

What a brill idea - I think the dog can have his own pocket money too.....

I think he can have £20 a month for all food, treats, and fun. His insurance comes out of the bank by DD automatically so that doesn't count and his hair cuts are a necessity once every couple of months.....forgot about the routine vet stuff too.
Looking at it, he's quite the expensive little fur bomb.
