It could be worse. I just had this thread open in another tab in my browser and left the room. One of my housemates came in and looked at my laptop and read the tab title which was '14 year old daughter having sex...'
I think I better go explain... :rotfl:
On a serious note, I wish I had more than this to share with you.0 -
I haven't read the whole thread (sorry) but if the boy has had sex with your daughter then he could get into serious trouble as I believe it still counts as rape as she's under-age, even if he is as well. Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

If she's mature enough to be having sex (which i can't say i'm convinced at age 14 she is) then she should be mature enough to be able to discuss it in an adult manner and take responsibility for her body. I think you need a big talk, which won't be easy but needs to be done. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I've just read the whole thread and my tuppence worth is that the daughter is not having sex because she doesnt respect her mother or to cause trouble or because her mother allowed the 'opportunity'. Shes a teenager and teenagers quite often have sex! Opportunities will be found, desire and emotions run high - its not about the parents at all imo.
I also dont think snooping on the daughter is the way to go - even accidentally. At 14 shes old enough to change her own sheets.
IMO a concerned, calm chat is needed. She may be 14 but the daughter has adult desires and needs her mums support even if mum doesnt agree with all thats going on.
With regard to discussing it all with the parents, I would never discuss my love life with my mum, from teenage onwards. I am an individual and entitled to a private life - a parent is not meant to know everything even about their child!Light Bulb Moment - 11th Nov 2004 - Debt Free Day - 25th Mar 2011 :j0 -

her dad told me today that she told him she thinks i try to control her!! but im not her best friend telling her what to do, im her mother looking out for her and doing my job as a parent but she just can't seem to see that :-(
In no way critcising the poster, but she might do well to remind her daughter's father that he is in law responsible for his daughter's welfare until she attains her 16th birthday so for him not to take any active involvement amounts to child neglect.0
