You're keeping it all together admirably. I don't know how you keep going. I'm glad you've laid it on the line to your OH. I hadn't realized he wasn't working. And he thought YOU should iron his shirt????
thank you for your kind words Verbatim and welcome to the mad house, please make yourself comfortable, we don't stand on ceremony here
Mr Hinge hasn't worked for almost 4 years now, after our heart to heart [STRIKE]my screaming banshee rant[/STRIKE]Mr Hinge has applied for 6 jobs in the last 24hours. small steps.
and yes, unfortunately the downside to been on sick leave is Mr Hinge does even less to help around the house...... and yes his clean clothing (shirt included) is still crumpled in the basket and will remain there until he reunites himself with the iron.
Nice to "see" you VerbatimLiving in a superhero induced haze :A:A

Hi Plmbl
I had some decent sleep last night, on the nights he struggles to settle I have taken to topping and tailing with Superman as it appears to help him sleep so much better or at least keeps him quiet and out of mischief! :rotfl:
Superman has gone to his horsey therapy this morning, Missy Hinge is super glued to the toilet with her tablet for company  operation clear out is going gushingly well:rotfl: it's a good job we are not adverse to toilet humor in the house of Hinge!! Master Hinge is entertaining the creepy crawlies in the garden with his gigantic bottle of bubble mix, it is awesome to hear him chatter endlessly when superman's early years were so silent.
I feel "ok" today Plmbl, Thank you for asking, I'm having a home day today and knowing I don't have to mix with the world helps the anxiety
I chickened out of calling working and having the "talk" I posted my sick note with a post it stuck to it..... to be fair I did go and see him last week and explained how everything is and that some days I just can not talk. We agreed to text and post contact if necessary.
How are you keeping Plmbl? I hope your being kind to yourself xLiving in a superhero induced haze :A:A

So I didn't get to hide from the world, Mr Hinge dragged me and the little Hinges to the fete at the meadows a few streets away from here. They had fun hooking ducks, scaling climbing walls, archery, skipping, touching mini beasts and harassing PCSO's with their guns and swords from the hook a duck :rotfl::rotfl:
The best thing about it all is as I am completely skint Mr Hinge had to pay :T he is £14 worse off and a whole load of moths escaped out of his usually tightly closed wallet  I hope this is a sign of things to come. not the expense but him taking some responsibility financially instead of rolling his eyes when I say I have no money!
Stripes How are you surviving the holidays with The King? is the listening program helping at all?

Sitting in my garden with a cuppa, yesturday when I couldn't move I became addicted to your diary....
Just wanted to say what a brill Mummy you are..... And like so many others think you are awesome.
I very much identify with Miss Hinge having had a mobility impairment since birth, and understand the challenges she is facing daily.
For my sins I am also an OT, but a rebellious one, as I often cross swords with those who do not see the whole Picture from the patient side. i appreciate only to well that you and miss Hinge are by now experts and working with professionals needs to be a partnership, to solve the hurdles you face along the way.
So cheering you on from afar and look forward to sharing things along the way......As a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or

Welcome BM to the madhouse and the crazy world that us Hinge's life in :rotfl:and thank you for your kind words:o
Missy Hinge is indeed a fighter and is made of awesome stuff! The main problem we have is the Prof's contradicting each other and often they even contradict themselves with in a few minutes of opening their mouths :rotfl:the other main down fall is they hear what comes out of your mouth but their brains mix it up and it becomes something completely different
To be fair our OT has been amazing and has helped sort out Missy Hinge's bits for school (they actually listen to her!!) she now has a laptop, chair, pens, writing slope, handrails, wheelchair for days she is really struggling with her crutches and an amazing bath lift which stops my back breaking lifting her in and out of the bath! she has splints for her thumbs and wrists as well as her ortho boots!
BM can I ask how did you manage your mobility difficulties whilst growing up? Missy Hinge knows she is different from other people and accepts people are all different for many different reasons but becomes frustrated, frustrated at not been able to do what everyone else does, frustrated at having to explain herself to people over and over again and even more frustrated at the ignorance she is met with.
Please feel free to join in the game and not just cheer from the side lines :j

It's good here in the Stripey household.
Good to hear you kicked Mr Hinges butt.:T
Holidays are whizzing at the moment, it's lovely spending time with my Stripies. Trying to do everything at once
The program is fab hoping The King feels the same. He is becoming more cheeky and stubborn in a positive way and aware of himself and his environment, hyper. I can't explain it but I know you get what I mean. The King is being unlocked0 -

Managing at school...... Well.... Probably need a large packet of chocolate digestives and a huge pot of coffee.
My experiences weren't that fab, I was at school in the 70's and 80's with parents who wanted to treat me as "normal" and I had very little practical support. I have a mild form of cerebral palsy, with one leg longer than the other and poor balance (hence I know about falling) I use to walk a couple of miles to school up hills! As my Mum didn't drive ( she passed on something like her 5th attempt when I was in my teens). Hence I was permantly cream crackered and as a result was often a bear with a sore head. I didn't make friends easily. I was a loner and concentrated on my school work .... Lunchtimes in library etc..... Gave me a god grounding as I did end up with two degrees and two professional qualifications... accountant before OT.
We moved and found friends at 18..... I found a fresh start then and people excepted me more as who I was.
On the other hand..... My OH is a triple amputee from birth and he had a fantastic school life... No bullying..... As he had a go at anything..... Had an able bodied twin, so they did things together. Although mobility wise he was restricted at times, he has no pain, and used wheelchairs etc....
This has made me think that its not necessarily the disability that causes the problems with thers but the consequences, ie managing the pain, the fatigue that comes from using more energy to do things....
Hoorah for a fab OT.... I had a lightbulb moment at 31 when in Euro Disney, boyfriend observed when we hired a wheelchair, we had a fab time as I was full of life, unlike the morning I decided to "walk" and was grumpy like hell.... Is only observation if I had my own wheels it was better than hired wonky onesBoyfriend didn't last but has led to a succession of wheelies and mobility scooters that has given me many adventure.s
So..... I would say to Miss Hinge...... Learn how to manage your pain/fatigue.... Wheelchair and smiles are more attractive to friends than being tired/in pain grumpy. There's lots of ways to do things and not miss out.
From your diary.... I see Miss Hinge is really successful at her studies, fantastic .... As qualifications opens doors in adulthood.......for example money for those things that both keep you upright and extra costs that lead you to adventures my titanium ( non NHS ) wheelchair took me Tall Ship Sailing where I met my OH.....
I am going to stop now.... But look forward to sharing more of your journey and if I can support you all from a far I would be pleased xxxAs a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or
