Vent - noisy people in cinema

  • Its why I'll pay for better seats if possible away from the maddening throng. Also another reason I keep my Sky movies subscription going.

Subtly throw popcorn in their hair next time someone does that, and persists. Will give you a laugh anyway. I don't care if its childish. :D

Thankfully I have lots of free time and can go to the cinema at unpopular times. The first showing of the day on a weekday (not Wednesday) is usually very quiet. I was the only person in the theatre when I went to see We Need to Talk about Kevin. Seems like most people don't have an appetite for films about violent sociopaths at 9am! :D

They need to wake up and smell the napalm.

Last time I went to cinema was in 1997 and I dont miss it one bit. I would rather watch a good flick with decent surround sound at home. Okay its not quite as good as a big screen but I do watch HD films and I watch several good films a week, prefer that than much of the rubbish on tv
  • I posted last part as a joke

I do pause occasionally to go to loo. I usually get refreshments before film commences

But doesn't the pausing reduce the dramatic effect?

I never went for years due to the fact I got so wound up by other people's behaviour - I was like Victor Meldew and some more.

But I am now a bit more chilled out - last time I went someone had the glowing mobile phone - I just kept cool, asked them nicely to refrain and they did.

I go to the flicks (and brave the hell that is other people) primarily because I want to see things when they come out. I really oppose pirated stuff so if I don't want to wait the six months or so for the DVD (and often I don't) the only option is the cinema. I do enjoy it too. Sitting in the dark, great atmosphere and sound, nice cup of tea, comfy seat. :)

go to a more expensive cinema, you wont find teenagers there. Or watch the movies at home.

Rare we go these days - the behaviour of other people is so bad it's not worth paying £7-8 to be annoyed for a few hours. We've got a DVD rental subscription that we use a LOT (quite often retreat to bed early to watch a film up there) and get through a good couple of movies a week on that, plus Sky Movies and very occasionally a pay per view one... it's got to be something seriously good, or usually his parents paying as they live far away from most cinemas so tend to combine going for a meal and catching up on films when they come to stay with us - for us to go to one.

Used to go all the time - just got so sick of films being ruined by all of the aforementioned - plus the price to BE irritated being increased so much, that we don't tend to bother now.

  • i hate the old people who take a picnic with them and then talk to each other about what each other want.

ive been there when a old woman asked her husband what sandwich he wanted as she made like 5 types then got a plate for the sandwich and a cup for the coffee she had brought with her and then started filling a bowl with crisps god knows how she fit it all in her bag

one woman even started eating quiche with a knife and fork before
  • I'm really fed up of cinemas selling alcoholic drinks these days.

It's annoying because, as a polite, considerate person who is able to control myself and not ruin an experience for everyone around me, I think it would actually be quite nice to relax and enjoy a nice chilled glass of wine while I'm watching a film at the cinema. It doesn't work like that though! Cinemas selling alcohol = drunk idiots shouting the whole way through the film and throwing bottles around. I try not to go to the cinema in the evening anymore because of things like this.
