Very good except for: "No turning up late".
Might be acceptable if they advertised the start time of the film but they don't (at least not in any cinema I've been to in the last 20 years). If I get a free ticket or they pay me I might feel obligated to sit through the (variable duration) adverts and trailers. As it is I don't.
Having said that, I think I've only missed the beginning of a film once in the above-mentioned timeframe.
OTOH I can't honestly say I've ever been bothered by the occasional late comer.
Plus, very little of the code should apply during the adverts. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
We went to see The woman in black today and had the same problem. Loads of kids talking throughout the film (various seats), the 4 in front of us even had their mobiles out every 2 mins checking their Facebook. In the end I politely asked them to put It away as it was really distracting. I don't understand why people would pay to see a film when all they do is sit looking at their phones.
To be fair the couple behind us (late 50's) chatted throughout the film and kicked my chair constantly even using my seat to pull themselves up. I think we will just choose to go to later showings in future0 -
that's why I go during the week when everyone is at work & school. usually only me & maybe a couple of others.
infact, I'm going to the cinema tomorrow.
only ever had one bad time was when there were a load of kids for some reason(NO parents!), when I'm sure they should have all been in school.0 -
Pros
Big screen
Cons
Ticket cost
Parking costs
Food costs
Disruption
Inflexible start times
Would rather sit at home, watch it on my sofa with my 50 inch screen, with a decent curry (no nachos for me), nowone kicking my seat, nowone talking, texting.
Judging by the reduced time between cinema and DVD releases I think film companies are realising this is the future.0 -
I [Bhate][/B] the cinema. Its overpriced, uncomfortable, the carpets are always sticky. There is always someone with their head in the way, someone kicking my seat, someone coming in late that has seats past me so I have to get up to let them through. Also, why the hell is there always one person, usually at the front that has to get up to go to the toilet half way through? Surely its not that difficult to go before you go in. Or if you have a condition or know that you will need to use the toilet at some point in the film, sit at the back!!!!!
My fiances aunt bought us tickets to any 3d film with drinks and a snack but we really are dreading going. However it is at a different chain so maybe a better experience!!
Glad I'm not the only one though.0 -

Aagh, c'mon it's not that bad. I've been a lot recently, and i've experienced very few problems.
I rarely go to 3d films, as i dont actually like them very much, and thry are waaay overpriced. I go at quieter times and make use of either orange wednesday, or we have bargain tuesday in some of our cinemas.
Never buy any of the food or snacks in the cinema. We always take our own.
And cant believe you're actually dreading going for a freebie night out:eek:0 -
I go to the cinema in cardiff all the time (cineworld unlimited card) and have been lucky that I've rarely had that problem of people talking during a film! (probably because i tend to go on a tuesday which is my day off) The one time it was happening and after several attempts to ask them to shush, I simply went and reported it to a steward who came in and sat at the back quietly to see if they were still doing it...they were, so he gave them a warning. That shut them up.

I think more and more people are doing this. We too have a large screen, surround sound hd etc, and i love watching movies in the comfort of my own home as well:)
Currently have netflix and lovefilm, so have loads of films to watch and not a lot of time to watch them in!
As for paying for parking, i was shocked when we had to pay for parking at the cineworld in the isle of wite when we were there on holiday in october. Wont be doing that again:mad:
We have been to the cinema a lot recently because there has been a glut of films on that we want to see, but that's unusual. Will proably gp a lot less in thecoming months and get my money's worth fron netflix and lovefilm.0 -

Couldn't put it better myself - another wittertainment fan here!
Seriously though do you have a choice of cinemas? I am a member at our local Picturehouse cinema and the behaviour there is pretty good..... however at our local REEL it can be pretty awful - I sat through Never Let Me go with a bunch of hoodies with mobile phones on constantly and I wasn't brave enough to complain!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0
