We used to play together as kids. Then he dissappeared (his Mom sent him to boarding school) and turned up on my doorstep about 20 years later after learning that my marriage had failed.
Although i was happy to be just friends his Mother forced the issue when she threw him out because i had got 2 children so he moved in with me..... Next thing i knew he had booked the wedding. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

My ex wasn't blessed in the looks department tbh but I spent 9 months with him because he could make me laugh so much and we got on like a house on fire. I really never did fancy him and never loved him though and he wanted more of a commitment and I just couldn't make it.
My DP is the biggest pain in the backside on the planet, I could kill him somedays but I genuinely adore everything about him aswell and the night we met I thought he was the most beautiful man I had ever seen and well out of my league. Luckily for me he thought the same about me (just a beautiful woman, not man lol). I still think he is the most beautiful man on earth, he has a smile that lights up the entire world. No man has ever wound me up the way he does but i've never fancied a man more either.
I think relationships without that initial spark can work but you have to become the best of friends and be able to laugh together but then I guess that's true of any relationship.0 -
DP is the biggest pain in the backside...
DP?
Mrs G and I met at work. It wasn't love at first sight for either of us. The first time I remember actually noticing her was when she did the classic letting her hair down and shaking her head. There was something about her naturally curly long blonde locks tumbling over her shoulders that did it for me.
It still does.0 -
I moved from the UK to Uganda for a job and though a friend found a random houseshare near my office. Intended to stay a month or two until I knew the city a bit better and could chose a place of my own. Immediately disliked the housemates - the girl seemed very immature and the guy seemed full of himself.
Both impressions were entirely wrong, and after a few months I was good friends with the lady and head over heels for the manseveral months later its early days but going strong!

OH was going out with a friend when they had a horrible split (down to her not him). I was asked to write a letter to her about some stuff from him but instead we went out on a date! That was 16 years ago in July (we married 3 yrs ago on the date we 1st met). Everyone including my parents said it would not last 16 day ha! I have the last laugh :-D
Mind you when I 1st met him I thought I would not fancy him as he is 2 inches shorter than me and has a waist I would love to have (mind you eats everything in sight and does not put on a pound ...) I normally go for tall chunky men lol. But he is what I need to balance me out. We tend to be chalk and cheese on some things but we have found a way to make it work :-)
My mum met my fab step-dad via a medium! My nanna Pat gives readings and said that my mum HAD!! to go to a crystal spiritual meeting the next day. Mum went and my step-dad was there. They clicked straight away and he had never been married (and he was 40!) He moved in with mum 10 weeks later and they have now been together 8 years this year.0 -
I've known DH all my life, so I didn't fancy him to start although we were always good mates. There was a period when we'd not seen each other for a couple of years as we lived a long way apart, then met up at a family wedding when we were 15 and 18. There was a mutual attraction and we had a sneaky kiss or three in my nan's front room, then started writing to each other after we both went home. We stayed just good friends, although there was always a lot of chemistry between us. Things got complicated in our early 20's - didn't get together due to family complications (we're cousins by marriage/divorce:eek:), plus I'd been married and divorced very young and he liked playing the field with extremely unsuitable women (Falkland Islander OAP's and his mum's best mate to name just 2!).
We both preferred each other to anyone else though, and got together in the end. We "came out" as a couple to the families when we were 23 and 26 and married a year later, but by that stage they'd sussed and been hoping we'd get together for some years. We've been married 25 years now0 -

He came back and asked again, we have been married 18 years in June!
