I'd love to join you. In April I'm giving up work to start "the good life" and could do with a practise in March. I'm just going to start with £5 and see where I get in the month.

Great stuff :) Welcome to the thread and wow good luck with the giving up work thing  but :D

I will add you to the first post too :)

Oh and quick update on my personal challenge - been out sniffing about for some bargains and spent my £5 in various charity shops.

I'm really slow starting this challenge and have only listed five items on eBay (so far have spent 50p on listings of the original £5). Have requested items from Freecycle but haven't been lucky so far. How's everyone else doing?

Yes, I realise when I put them on but didn't know before. The costs were for Buy it Now options I think. Now you've reminded me I'll go and find some more to put on - perhaps without buy it now to save extra money?

  • I really do need to register with the tax man- its one of those things I have been putting off because I know I have 3 months to do it! Only thing is I don't how to declare for my tax credits as one month I could make £1000 and the next £50 so its confusing me a bit!

Id like to get in with the buying things in charity shops gumtree etc to sell on for profit but I have so much other treasure to get rid of I can't start cluttering up the house with someone elses! Would be nice to mooch around boot sales but I am back off maternity leave and work on Sundays so this will have to be during next batch of maternity leave (;)).

Trying to work out how Id do my calculations for this too. Think I'll work out how much £££ I have in stock already, how much I spend during the month on stock and then how much profit I've made. Thing is I don't sell the items for double their cost (due to competition on the bay)- And so this wouldn't show me 'doubling my money'. So I would have to 'reinvest' profits which makes the calculations more complication. For example one of my bestsellers I buy I make 90p profit per one sold but the cost me £4 to sell.

  • Sorry to double post but just went off to look for double your money ideas and went to a site I use sometimes that may be of use to some people- you may have heard of it but thought Id share anyway. Its called baycrazy.com. It is an affilliate type site of eBay. You can type in your postcode and it will show you all items ending soon in your area, you can also refine by category, I look for items that are pick up only close to me that I can make profit on by posting it. The site can also show all items ending on ebay now, items with silly end times (so not many bidders and potential low final prices), also misspelled titles. Hope that helps someone :)
