was there an apocolyis at 1.29pm yesterday ???? that was the last i saw on here !!
[dave will be collapsed on the floor at my spelling...:rotfl::rotfl: ]
well my quiet day with the hoss's was interupted this morning by a phone call from the agisters brother [got ruby from him] saying MABEL was out !! i was puzzled why HE had called me, especially when he said he had tried to contact his brother first ?
anyway i set off home to find mabel stretched out near my gate....
i woke her up [very disgruntled !] and started to aim her for her home when a police car turned up... 2 policemen were laughing thier heads off ?? they told me they had had a report of a DEAD pig...and they had drawn the short straw to attend....[talk of agister made sense now...:o ]...well in between giggles they put the blue lights on and escorted me and mabel down the road.....
what was most embarasing was that one of the coppers was drop dead gorgeous [remember im desperate !;) ] and NO ONE can look alluring whilst driving a pig through a hedge !!0 -
Came home from London (Sunday evening late) to find we'd had gales here in Liverpool! The table left on the patio outside kitchen bifold door was upside down half way down the garden, the polystyrene box full of compost (and spring onions) that had been on top of it was tipped over on the edge of the bed by the lawn.
A sea of blue as we approached the house - the grape hyacinths were in their prime! :j And the ornamental quince in full flower too, very pretty.
Need to get out to chop off the overblown flowers on the "early" camellia, but suddenly the late camellias are flowering too! Magnolia in bud still, nearly open - just need a nice warm day, which seems unlikely in the immediate future!
New Grandson is great! OH had lots of fun walking him round the room when he cried, and also enjoyed playing with him in the "play area" thing that used to belong to the GrandTwins when they were tiny. Can't say much more here, DD1 wants her privacy.
What I can say is that OH took a faulty pushchair back to Momas & Popas in Croydon. It was exchanged with no difficulty... :j But their online "customer service" was painful, useless, unhelpful, horrid (to the extent Baby's Dad started quoting Consumer Law at them)
so it was an agreeable surprise to find the shop people didn't argue at all and were very helpful. :j
Stayed in a B&B in Penge (very close to Crystal Palace) where we were very comfortable. It had a lovely garden, (that's our room that you can see on the left, door onto the garden) that come later in the year will be looking fab!

Big pond with goldfish, and our bedroom in the annexe opened out onto the garden.OH says the Full English Breakfast was the best one he ever had! It was really good. But plenty of other choice too if you didn't want that. Would definitely recommend if you need a place to stay in London that's cheap compared to the usual overpriced hotels! And the garden was a bonus that I really enjoyed each morning sitting outside our bedroom on the bench and having early morning ciggie.
PM me if you want details.
Yesterday we went over to the Wirral to visit MiL as it was her 90th birthday. Small family party in her nursing home, hopefully slightly bigger family party on Saturday, just hope MiL feels up to attending. She is very frail, and OH tells me she had another fall yesterday evening. I'm very worried she is seriously dehydrated, which certainly won't be good for her.
Horrid grey and chilly in Liverpool today. And I think it's going to get colder over weekend. Must try get toms and courgette seeds going in heated propogator, bit too early for runner and other beans yet?
So that's my latest news all caught up as best I can! Cleared some stuff out of the utility room today, OH will have to chuck it in the compost bin as it's too far for me to walk to it. It's at the far end of the garden.
Pieris has red shoots coming on it. Took me a bit by surprise since it's been so grey and chilly here! Must have been surprised by the nice weather at weekend!
Oh, forgot to say we stopped overnight at Warwick Services so we could visit Compton Verney. If you're ever in the vicinity I really recommend it. I wanted particularly to visit the Enid Marx collection and the folk art collection. Both fascinating and fun!0 -
Dave isn't collapsed on the floor, Alfie. He has a severely dyslexic daughter and knows all about you creative types!
Anyway, you've taught me a new word: agister. I would use it, but we don't have too many of them around here.
I think the winds are returning to the North soon, Maggie, but dahn sarth we are going to have cool, bland weather for a while yet. Anything is better than the infernal south-easterlies we had last year, which blew my courgettes out of the ground.
Picked up the roofing sheets today. Very cheap!0 -
I just love Mabel. She is such a card.
Nothing at all happening here. No sign of creaky the shelduck or Ahim and Sarah the crested ducks. Found some feathers by some bramble cover.....so I think some strumming is in order pronto to remove more cover in the areas close to yard and house.0 -
Back from Skye a day early. Sheep were fine, person I was helping..........
Couldn't believe how many deer were about, they're certainly doing some damage.

DW off to a funeral nx week while I mind hearth, home and business.
Have sowed most of the tender stuff indoors now, and a few bits and bobs outside. Looking at the tree fruit blossom starting I may be tempted to aid pollination as there aren't many bees about
Got to say I could have cheerfully strangled one smug londoncentric weather presenter recently, extolling the fact that London was basking in 22C but might see temps drop (what a shame!) while we were struggling in 10C gloom :mad:0 -
hi all
sad news in that a local ambulance was involved in an accident today... 2 dead and 2 serious injuries. 25yr old arrested for dangerous driving....

Awful. Also this week a kid was knocked on one of our country lanes as he left the school bus. Tbh, I find the school bus enough of a hazard, it flings itself round the bends in the round.
I have been to the hairdresser. Alfie, can you imagine me with straight hair?:D0 -
Far too many nasty accidents on the roads here too. It was always the way, but somehow, back in the 60s, when we had no seatbelts and crumple zones, people seemed to survive pretty much unscathed most of the time. I remember just two fatalities in my teenage years, yet all my mates (girls excepted) had at least one accident in that period.
I think we lived charmed lives or something.
We've been preparing for the church plant sale in the last couple of days. It was horribly hot in the poly today, but I resisted the temptation to remove the covers on the side ventilation. Once they are off they stay off, and I think there's still a bit of cold to come.
Glad the lambing went well for you lucielle.0 -
