with regards bikes ! believe you me the "horse" people are also claiming more rights to the forest than the commoners ! riders do very little road work to be on the forest here and personally i find it a bit "them and us" attitude instead of just getting on with things. 2 days is not a lifetime and gross exageration is in the media. today went by without a hitch. i passed many cyclists and not once was i held up any longer than a horse and rider who have in the past been a pain in the butt with thier ignorance of not thanking me when i wait/pass widely etc. NOT ALL OF THEM i will add. it was on minor roads, not carriage ways.
the forestry/NP here have shut various car parks to walkers etc telling us its cos of nesting birds in the area. BUT horse riders can go through the area and they can gorse burn the area ?????? law unto themselves here...

That's National Parks for you, alfie. I always wonder if, when people get all exited about their area possibly becoming a NP, they actually know what they're in for :rotfl:

Our local boot is on this morning but I doubt if anyone will turn up as its open air.

M4 eastwards Saturday afternoon was a bit rough with the rain hammering down but we've unloaded all the stuff (mainly good quality with not much junk) and started to sort/research. I suppose the equivalent in the old days would be one of the cottage industries used to supplement income. As I dont spin, weave or sew, and I dont fancy unpicking oakum, this will have to do! At least it's a way of spending time profitably when the weather is inclement.

Choille/CTC/Alf: One of the dealers is just starting a buisness account with RM but his sales volume is 4x mine. Collect+ have reacted positively to the new RM charges by introducing a new parcel rate for up to 2kg of £3.99 (previously Jiffy bag only). This gives the advantage of tracking for proof of delivery which RM charge extra for.

Hi RHIWIE..

Yes I seen that, I have been verbally excepted for a royal mail online account, but if they decline me, then it will be either dispatch bay or collect+ for me..

I am confused now:cool::p with the weather reports, one minute they are saying we are going to have rain for atleast 2 weeks, then in the next report, they are saying it will be nice?????

Edit.... forgot to say.... did you see the news about the nurseries dumping plants etc, they are estimating a 50 million pound loss of sales in the industry, does this mean there will be loads of reduced price plants at the garden centres????

We were talking in the other thread I frequent about cycle races etc. for us it's not the one day it happens, but that other things happen all the other days. Also for equestrian business, by FAR the majority of money is made at weekends from hacks or regular livery clients having 'quiet' enjoyment. If they don't get it they look elsewhere.

We have a clue of cycle races, a half dozen road rally days, a new fun run day......so on and so on. All of these are great, and should happen, but there is little consideration into implementation. They usually run mid/late morning to mid/late afternoon. In winter THAT is the time clients have to ride out.

The noise creates makes working at home difficult even. And there are something's that can only be done on the roads. They are essential and for short term clients, cannot just be put of because it was a month where we had four weekends of stuff (hunt, cycle race, runners and a car rally).

does anyone know how much these drains are normally??

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171021053141?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

been watching them, and typical they have jumpe from 99p to £22 odd..

Its one of those things where... you dont need them, BUT you know you might need them in the future. and it would be s@ds law if you dont buy them, you will need them:rotfl:

so I was just wondering on the price of these types of drain/pipes etc, to help me make a decision to bid or not, and up to what

Ctc I read on so didn't click the link, but just want to reinforce the need for anything to be extra sturdy on a small holding environment.

In the yard here the manholes were replaced with plastic ones after then original metal ones were stolen. They are simply not strong enough, and one has needed replacing since before we arrived.

Things need to be strong enough for your pigs to wrestle upon of they get loose, or to be driven over in the trailer, so the weight of a lorry or a trailer laden with the pigs.

This is heavy duty stuff.

I have been trying to grow stuff for the church plant sale, but they haven't helped themselves by arranging it for the 27th of this month. :( When I spoke to the organiser, and expressed doubts last November, she said, "I don't know much about plants." confused-smiley-013.gif

Well, they haven't had any divine assistance that's for sure! :rotfl:

As for the DIY sheds and garden centres, I'm seeing BOGOFs already.

 since it is now pouring with rain, I am regretting not spending more time in the garden yesterday!
