havent long got in, and I smell like a kipper ( and so does alot of the ranch's neighbours washing:eek::D)

taken some pics, so will post them later.

Davesnave, hubby woul love to have one of those mini diggers, and in reality we really do need one with all the work we are doing/got to do... that digger belonged to the fencers..

we are slowly finding out who the 'back stabbers' are, you know the type, nice to your face, and moan and groan about you to others... I think My time of being nice, and being considerate to the neighbours ( or certain ones) is now coming to an end:D

LIR.... sounds as though, you are helping her retain her dignity..which she so deserves...

Alfie.. I will give our works addy... are you going to give me a clue to what hubby will be getting:p
agree the sun has been out, but it is still cold...

LIR has the most amazing affinity [is that right word ?] with all creatures in her domain. she understands em.... she can see what others dont. she knows her animals inside out ...to my reckoning anyway. anything living with her care is blessed.

That's so kind. It means a lot coming from you.

This is without doubt the hardest PTS decision I have ever made, even if this is not the animal I have been closest to. She is so independent, so 'hard' and taking away her control is something I do very unwillingly. With special girl the decision was easy, easy, and if special girl were in the state old girl is in I would have known to make the decision months ago...she was not as independent and tough. Old girl doesn't trust and wants her freedom. Tbh, I suspect if the choice were hers alone she would go on and on even in agony, fighting to the bitter end. It's ME who doesn't want that for her. Balancing what I interpret as what she wants, with what I feel is right is headache inducing...because in this case the two conflict. My vets have been so amazingly supportive. Tbh, I know the vet I changed from wouldn't have been as supportive.

Sometimes one wishes one knew their individual personalities a little less, so that it was less an opposing consideration.:o

    Indeed, so difficult, lir.

We only have old cats, but the arthritic, 'autistic' one shows me that animals can be in pain yet happy in themselves. Back in the days when she misunderstood everything, she wouldn't purr and would hide away, but she was young and able to go wherever.

Now, she plods a few metres down the garden to have a roll on the soil and that's about it. Most of the time she still keeps a low profile, but if she sees me sit down, she's there, and if reaching me means a painful jump, she'll do it.....and she's purring before I stroke her.

That's one happy cat. She understands her place in the world at last.

But if I thought she was suffering too much, the decision wouldn't be too difficult. :)

Last night I was too tired to post and tucked up in bed before 10pm! Went a bit mad rushing around to get things done prior to the rain, which we need badly now.

Anyway, the monster mower is back in action and I got the orchard and side paddock done. :D

The other thing we wanted to do was shift all the willow that we cut from Mr Dog's end to our bonfire site, using the van. A rear wheel drive van really isn't the best 'farm vehicle' so we can only do that sort of thing while it's dry and the grass is short. But it does have over 11' of load space!:rotfl:

We shifted all the willow and a couple of van loads of hazel too, but we couldn't set fire to it, or any of the other stuff that was already waiting, because the wind was still easterly. The opening to the thatcher's storage barn faces east....:(

Instead, we went up to the other end of the orchard, in the willow grove with a big corrugated iron barrel and burned all the willow I've had piled up there since the autumn. Boy, was that dry! It was all gone in under 2 hours. :)

So, we are looking tidy & presentable again, apart from the most massive pyre I've ever accumulated, still waiting for a westerly wind....

Nope. Now not sure he can cope with seeing her, wants to remember her how she was.

His mother is coming early this week.

The nice horse has sold to someone else. (I'm only mildly frustrated, though she was the most committed I have felt to buying something ). The seller has a younger filly for sale but its difficult to tell from the photos, but pretty sure she is nowhere near as nice.

Weather is starting to change, hints of moisture in the air, probably be raining before too long. Stiil not warm though :(

Running repairs on a fence thats 25 years old and battling ivy. Hope it lasts a few more years. More weeding and also sprayed creeping buttercups and goose grass.

My garden seems to be a front line for the cats round here and is marked/cr*pped on by far too many toms. Enough is enough, time for an electronic repellent.

It must be a difficult decision for him to make. Just know you are in my thoughts, I am sure you will make the exact right decision for her when the time comes.

We had to make the decision a few weeks ago to have one of our cats put to sleep, we had been monitoring him for some time with the support of the vet and it was very difficult knowing when it was his time. At the time I was deeply upset however with hindsight I can see that he had a good life with us and we made his last few weeks that extra bit special.

Shame to hear that the horse you had your eye on has gone. As for the filly there is no point in buying a horse you are not 100% about. There is time for you to look about and find another that makes you smile.
