Interesting to hear about other Easter weekend. Perishing cold here most of the time; even when sunny we had fierce winds from the east. Yesterday it rattled away most of the day. Looking out of the window now, there are still snow patches where the sun cannot get to it on the northside of buildings and trees.

Amazed and delighted to find that BOTH bee colonies are still alive. Went to feed them and the one about which I was confident ( the heat from the colony had melted the centre of the snow patch on their roof the previous weekend) had eaten most of the fondant I gave them the previous week.

Opened the other one up because they were flying to find that they are up to their usual tricks and crowding at the front of the hive so fooled me previously. Both have extra food reserves and if the weather says as predicted we might think about putting syrup on instead.

Plant wise, getting no-where fast but intend to set stuff in the attic as it gets enough solar gain for hardier plants. Spent yesterday tidying up in preparation.

Today was very pleasant once the sun got to everything, but yesterday was a bit grim. We finished off filling a couple of deep beds in the polytunnel then, rather than finish off the tiny bit of elm hedge we still need to trim up. Wimps!:o

This morning was a bit of a nightmare though. First, I discovered that someone had had a lovely Easter weekend in one of the empty barn conversions, left their rubbish bags out side our gate and b*ggered off back to wherever they came from. Great! In the night, something had pulled out the remains of their take-aways, tipped out the empty lager cans and also revealed some interesting Ann Summers packaging....:o:rotfl:

Then the dogs started.....:( quickly followed by Grandma visiting next door, who calmly proceeded to crank-up their incinerator, producing acrid smoke which billowed over our washing.....

On the whole, I was glad we had an appointment in town. :p

Now all is sweetness and light again. :)

I can't help re horses lir, but on windscreen washer fluid, there's really only one brand, and that's the one from Lidl. Those continentals don't stand for their washers freezing up!;)

I would love a cylindrical sieve and I'll buy one if we have anything left £-wise in a couple of years. Meanwhile, I have a couple of antique ones, given to me by our digger man, who bought them in a job lot of tools. They are huge and had lots of woodworm, but I've treated them. Those and some smaller metal ones have done it all so far.

I see that the weather is supposed to be milder and unsettled next week so maybe its time to plant the early potatoes.

Great news on the bees RAS, have just seen the odd one here in afternoon sun.

Ann Summers Dave? Its been Long John weather rather than lingerie surely!

One I like best has a baby on board though.......I am thinking carefully. The second one I like is a yearling. I am almost considering jiggling and getting all of them, so that the babies have each other to play with then sell the baby on board if its a boy (yucky boys ;)). Rummer would like that one I think.

Oh if only I had the money (or the space) then I would help you with the foal dilemma ;)

If I were you LIR I would BUY THEM ALL :rotfl:

Tomorrow we are planning on getting our shallots and potatoes planted and then we can tick that off the list.

I will send you the ads of the two i like I have to clear some space in on box, so tomorrow. ;)

One is going to be 'around' 16h, I would hope to be slightly smaller, one is 16h2. But she is smashish, one glaring conformation fault, but nothing I cannot live with, she is not my favourite breed, but rummer's (black driving horse) but she is really nice type, more baroque than most, looks worth riding, which To me many of them don't :o

Quiet in here tonight, so maybe time to upload a photo from the Panto.

This one is Queen Victoria showing Prince Albert her latest painting of him.
