It's been grey & miserable all day here & the forecast for the next few days looks dire :(

I noticed this afternoon that we have blossom opening on the cherry tree ~ can't wait to see it in full flower as it always looks so beautiful :D

Hoping everything is ok with alfie.

I'm a miserable !!!!!! when it comes to cherry blosson. I know they look lovely but it lasts two minutes on the tree and then you're walking the fallen brown petals in the house for the next few weeks. Meh!

We just got rid of our's when the digger man came. It's where the turning circle is going to go.

Thinking about neighbours. Caws Cenarth cheese making place had a special offer: a whole round of Perl Las 2.6kg of gorgeous blue cheesiness, it's normally £56 wholesale reduced to £12.

We bought two, divided it into huge chunks and delivered it to all the neighbours, even the one who was cross with us last year about our fencing job. Put a smile on all their faces. Karma, hopefully. :D

The charity cottage has 3 kids in it who are much the same, Dave. We've seen them twice since last September.

But I presume they go to school, if she's a working Mum.

Ours are...ahem..."Home Educated," so when I say they haven't been outside for more than two months, that's what I mean. They have no transport and no ability to travel, unless another family member from 30miles away shows up.

They're nice kids, and we've been on good, friendly terms with them, giving them the run of the fields when it's not close to haymaking, not that they've used them much. However, we wonder if they've now been instructed not to speak to us, as they haven't come close, despite our being out at the front sorting the new hedge for long periods this past week. :(

Just in case some of you get the wrong impression, we do have some 'normal' neighbours too! :rotfl:

Yes, they go to school in a town about 30 minutes drive away - mother is a teacher there. Of course, none of them made it in during the snow as no 4WD & couldn't get out of the valley. Work that one out.

Ours isn't the frothy, messy kind. The blossom is actually really small, just a single flower & the tree itself has gorgeous red leaves in the Summer. It does fruit but I've never had the courage to eat the cherries as I don't know what variety it is or if it's just ornamental ~ we had a bumper crop a couple of years ago ~ the birds had a feast!! :D

    Good evening!

Hugs to those still ill and caught up in lifes challenges :)

It is freezing and rainy here and time outside has been miserable, so I am not hopeful for a weekend in the garden :( however I could do with a relaxing break so I am not too bothered.

Now I am looking for a bit of advice from you all (nothing new there then :rotfl::rotfl:) my family and I would like to holiday in the UK or Ireland this year and I wondered if you had any recommendations? Our ideal holiday would be somewhere reasonably quiet and picturesque maybe in a village with lovely things to see and do nearby. A real escape from city life would be lovely ;) We love holidaying in the Malvern hills so something similar would be ideal!

When you say 'family' does it include young children, Rummer? If so what ages & what sort of things do they like to do?
Are you thinking of self-catering or hotel/B&B?
Will you want to be within walking distance of places, use public transport or be taking car(s) out?

Three of us with a DD at 9 who is happy to do anything. When on holiday we like to spend time exploring parks, gardens, interesting shops, museums, the beach etc Horse riding nearby would be marvellous

Self catering would be best for us with a space for sitting/eating outdoors. Walking distance to a local village would be great however I think we would take the car to provide greater flexibility.

We just want somewhere quiet and relaxing where we can share good food and find some peace :D
