  • morning all:beer::beer:

don't know why but I have woken up in a good mood today:eek::rotfl: I should imagine this will soon change over time today:rotfl:

I have been talking on a thread over in the food section about cat food. didn't realise it only has 4% meat content.

so I have worked it out that I spend approx £1.50ish on 3 tins of cat food a day, and it wouldn't be that much diff in price to feed them fresh meat/ fish etc. scraps, raw chciken wings, tinned pilchards etc.

so far it feels as though they are purring louder, and more contented:rotfl: my cats are indoor cats now, there is no way I can leave them out with the supermarket soooooooooooo close, and 1 cat used to that area being her hunting ground.

Hubby still not well, so going to leave him have a proper lay in..

Also in four days time it would have been a year to the auction day we bought our ranch...

where has the year gone????? ye I know it was washed away with all the bloody rain:mad::mad:

It's a beautiful morning here isn't it? Not as cold or windy as it has been either! Blinkin alarm clock didn't work and I slept in so have missed an hour or two when I really can't spare a minute!

I'm going to have a read of the pet food thread, I have always been dubious but never enough to investigate. I too give my cats and dogs any offal or other meat I don't eat, lucky devils.

My dog died of cancer last year and when I read up on it a lot of blame is put on the poor quality of the ingredients in their food, not much else it can be, they don't drink or smoke! Also said the residues of any medicines etc etc would be in the offal which tends to be what goes into pet food. Don't know how true that is but I read the piece Dave posted a link to about meat not being fit for human consumption because the sheep had been medicated too recently.... does that mean those animals could go into non human food?

CTC would that be the new big green supermarket by any chance? What a disaster that is, barely a mile from the big blue one and my local co-op which is now half empty

My stock fencing is progressing, gates going on today, pig arks in place, didn't go to the market yesterday, no point til it's all finished, maybe next month..:(

Waiting for a second load of gravel this morning, my garden is getting nearer. I haven't thought about plants for ages, gave up buying them and leaving them to fester in pots! I've got a lot of south and west facing wall area and north and east facing 6 ft fence so plenty of climbing things, trained fruit maybe, and must get some seeds in.....

Hope everyone's getting a little bit of sunshine today, just the pick me up we needed!

yep ferret keeper, that is where we live at mo. ( not living in ranch yet too much work to do, and not much money to do it with:o)

so you can see how close we live to the supermarket:eek::eek:

flip knows what we will do with this house, the same developer which owns/leases the land to the supermarket has bought the land right infront/side of us, so I am edging my bets that they might want to buy us out at some point. Which is why I am not spending a penny on this place... don't care how naff it looks.

I am just saving and spending money on the ranch.

Very rarely I go into 'this' supermarket.. i HATE IT..

I was going to ask how the pig auction went yesturday,

Yep turning out to be a nice day outside, so think I better make use of it:rotfl:

We have red dog wood, and yes, it's beautiful. It's so sad it's routinely chopped in autum as part of public planting, the whole point are the spidery blazing tendrils through this time of year.

Lots of blossom appearing locally, and spring definitely in the air.

We're having some blue sky and sunny intervals here and it looks as if there's plenty more on the way in the next few days. :j

I know it hasn't been very pleasant over the last week or two, but the dryness has meant that we've been able to catch up a bit. I think my seedlings are doing OK, but the aphids are already waking up, so I'll have to stay on the ball.

Our planning permission notice goes up tomorrow, and with 8 pallets of blocks at the front of the house and 4 more down in the yard + the builders starting there on Monday, some people are going to be very confused! :rotfl:

Well the garden work has started in earnest :j with the gentlemen having turned over the main veggie beds and now they are clearing all the junk out of the sheds and are preparing for a run to the dump :j

My good intentions did not get me far :o I did plant my pots up and empty the greenhouse and I have weeded the herb garden and picked up the endless piles of rubbish that are blown into our garden as well as weeding a few paths. However I did not get even half the amount of things I wanted done completed.

I have however made so many cups of tea today that I have lost track ;)

My MIL used to have the red Dogwood in her garden but I think it got too much for her to keep on top of so she got rid ~ I was gutted as I loved it :( I'm wondering whether to get some to use as a sort of 'hedge' for a South facing border ~ I wouldn't want to cut it back though.

Spring is definitely springing around here too ;)

Rummer, sounds like your garden is getting sorted :D

I've managed to do a few bits in the garden today ~ helps when there's an extra pair of hands. I noticed I have shoots on the raspberry cane I planted last year :j

Dave, your curtain twitching neighbours will be going into overdrive!! :rotfl:

Sounds like you got a lot done today, well done you and your helpers!

Saw some sun this afternoon, so refreshing after all the gloom.

Unlike CTC's Asda, we are really pleased with our new town-centre supermarket, it has meant we now do all our shopping close by, trading off the higher prices for savings in fuel and enjoying better quality food as well. So glad we made the choice of our locality many years back, if anything it has improved from when we first moved.

We've been pottering around, slowly improving, and filling in time with research and listings but not overdoing it. As soon as we are up to speed we need to visit aged parents but would do them no favours atm by passing on our illnesses:eek:

What a lovely afternoon! I was reluctant to light up, but the wind direction was as good as it's going to be in the immediate future, so I bonfired.:o

I didn't make much smoke at all, as everything was dry and ready to catch, so most of the remaining hedge clearance stuff was gone inside a couple of hours. :D

Meanwhile, having heard that Rummer was on a garden makeover today, DW was deployed in the border to clear the weeds and do a bit of pruning. Doesn't sound like she caught you up though, Rummer! ;)

I want the red dogwood too. We have some very plain green ones in the willow copse and there's a black stemmed one called 'Kesselringii' somewhere, but the red and yellow ones are still on the list....I'm sure we will be visiting our local cheap nursery soon! :)

What a strange week weather wise, snow last Saturday, dry all week and 12 degrees today. Got tonnes of washing dry outside, which I love.

Had a big meeting this week with the potential for getting a new dealership. Think poorly chainsaws and add St. I think the sales rep got more than he bargained for as our accountant came. He expected us to fall at his feet and thank him for being so wonderful for giving us this opportunity but the accountant was like a Jack Russell and wouldn't let him away with anything. He said he'd never had a meeting quite like it. Hopefully the paperwork is going through but it takes 4-6 weeks. Have to keep our fingers crossed everything goes through ok.
