Get you, going all French! :p

My chat is not in the gutter, it's on the mat, in front of the woodburner. :D

Any one here got any experience with hops?

Friend of mine has a micro brewery and needs more hops, not lots more, just some more. I have an area I was thinking of growing hops over for decorative reasons anyway...this seems like it could be a match made in heaven, But I have never grown them and in reality have little insight as to what they need. The area I want them is east facing...could they cope with that? How close together in a single row should they be planted? All this sort of thing....anyone got experience of this?

No experience, but going by the ones in Herefordshire, you need to plant like grapes and tie them in to wires, but the structures are much taller, perhaps 12'.

So, bit of inward investment needed for commercial product. :)

Well, the structure exists, so would just need wire and fixings. I think.

Still got some hailstones lying on the ground. One squall last night saw hailstones the size of small marbles hammering against the windows. Lasted only about a minute and I took this photo after about 30 seconds. Not surprising that we had several crashes on the M4 just north of us
