just had a thought ..[rare]... was it rhiwi or davesnave that mentions fish and chip shops as landmarks ??

I don't know the answer to that!

But yes, if we are out for the day, it always ends in a chippie.

The most expensive one was ten years ago in Penzance, where we happened to be one evening in the off season. There didn't seem to be anywhere open, except one rather upmarket fish restaurant. I still remember that our F&C bill came to £54!!!

Most disappointing was the meal I didn't have in Swanage, where I used to take a whole load of 11 year olds for a week away 'studying' ;) I always left enough money in the budget for fish & chips on the front on the last evening. The kids used to pretend they didn't know and some even managed to look surprised. :rotfl:

Anyway, on this particular trip a group of trusty kids, who'd been given a room slightly away from the others, confessed to me that they had broken a bed. It wasn't just broken, it had been totally wrecked! They explained that they'd made up a game of climbing right around the room not touching the floor, but it involved leaping from the bunks and using the bed as a trampoline.....

There was nothing for it but to use the chippie money to pay for another bed. Our finances were that tight. It was a very real lesson to the kids that actions have consequences....but by God it hurt.....me, that is! :rotfl:

But, but, you're in Devon where it's always.....nature-smiley-016.gif

Oh, hang on, you're in East Devon. :p

Seriously, it was horrible here an hour ago, but it seems to have quietened down. No rain. Not much wind. Are we in the eye of the storm? Forecast says it should be dire. :)

Its pretty dire here atm, very heavy rain, God help sailors territory

But looks like there is a break in the wet weather tomorrow before the heavens reopen
  • Hi ALL

well weather calm now, but it was rough last night, the rain:eek: the wind:eek::eek::eek:

Just having a cuppa and a ham roll ( ham has got to be used up) and a strawberry and white chocolate muffin for afters ( I can eat anything at anytime of the day:cool::D)

I really do take my hat off to peeps that do markets/fairs/events for a living and do them week in week out...

I think I could do one every few weeks, or a few on a trot, and then would need a break/rest.

We will def need to do extra things this, this year....

Outdoor ones especially. We didn't start those until May, although we did do a couple of venues in February if conditions were not too bad.

Mind you, our stuff couldn't spoil in the rain. :D

Not too bad a day in prospect here, and a quick squint at the web cam suggests that Pete has missed being flooded again by a whisker. :)
  • Just about to go into the hall again, for the last leg so to speak...

def feeling the strains of the last few days, and the lack of sleep in caravan...

Grey day here, but at leasts it dry, and the sun IS trying to come out..

    Catch you all later..

CTC, bit mad today at Andrew's :(. 206 went for £50 and horns went for £90, didnt see ornate forks, sorry. We found ourselves bidding high on the wrong lot , followed by bidding too high on the right lots. Usual post auction triste in full swing atm but we've done pretty well from last 3 sales so cant complain too much

At least weather fine for the round trip, and we're thankful for that!
  • thanks rhiwie.

I am shocked at the price of 206:eek::eek::eek: didnt think there was any 'named' china in there, but what do I know:rotfl:

Do you know how much the royal Albert went for???

Just finished packing away, and sitting in caravan having a cuppa:p:p don't know whether to go home today or leave in the morning...

very busy today... could have sold more if we had it..only dregs of stuff left..

You cant ask for much more than going home with an empty van!

Raining here, and forecast to do so all night I think.

The Royal Albert went for at least £80, we think probably more, but we noticed quite a few damaged pieces. Generally things went for a lot today, not sure if there was an extra china buyer there as one of the usual high bidders was outbid most of the time. But some good quality stuff as well on the trays and I was outbid by so much at times that it was clear I've still got loads to learn :o
