Oh well.....
Old horse (on her borrowed time) has been worrying me a lot....this weather is excessively hard on her. However, she is calm even though she is struggling to keep up with the others. Bored of hay she has nipped under the electric fence and come through the gate I left open and has set up camp for one on the back lawn, grazing the longer grass there. Shame to put her out really..
She has been popped out with special girl and naked boy (has a rug phobia....) to eat a big ration of soaked grass pellets and alfalfa instead.0 -
Cold & damp weather is cruel to anything getting on in years.:(
It stopped snowing here but never turned to rain so most of the snow is still around. The people further over in N Devon are complaining they have no snow. They're welcome to ours :rotfl:
I've seen some photos of the surrounding lanes & roads & nobody will be going anywhere much for a while. "Man high drifts" apparently.
A gritter slid off the road just off the moor & there are numerous abandoned cars about.
We still don't have it as bad as over the water, luckily.0 -

Well she certainly knows what she wants! :rotfl:If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Well we have a dusting of snow - like caster sugar. Which means it is not sticking and is like walking on thin sand.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

She does indeed. E.g. Grass is Meant to be a risk for her (she has advanced cushings, so laminitis is a risk) but as we know it's any days now we let her eat grass.......something has to get her in the end....and infact....she never shows any sign of foot discomfort and my equine podiatrist has already asked for her feet 'afterwards' to see what her secret is. I doubt the secret is in her feet, but more in her whole. Iyswim.
We just offered her a barn with a nice bed in it and her favourite chum and she snorted at us and headed to their normal barn and the rest of the gang. Her eyesight must be very bad now, but she doesn't care...she likes grass, and when it's warmer and safe underfoot a good canter (she went 'hunting' a few weeks ago when the hunt came past she went round and round the field....she is just a trooper and a wild thing, and she wants things n her own terms. I can sympathise with that...so I pander to it. At her age she knows better than me anyway.0 -
molly she sounds adorable, any chance of some pics please:DWork to live= not live to work0

Welcome Molly! Sorry I didn't post this earlier, but I have to sneak on at work or someone tattles on me... even though it's January and the whole company is quiet after the festive season (we import alcohol).
I have done naff all today really, but with a cold and cough courtesy of DH I could have done with being allowed to come home early!
We have a grand total currently of half an inch of snow. I have thrown my first snowball (at my supervisor's car - don't worry, she's my best mate too) but there isn't enough yet to enter the snowman contest. Maybe tomorrow!
Keep safe, warm, tucked up and treat yourselves everyone xx"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -

Its a real advantage not to have to try to get out in this weather. Living on a steep hill as we do, is bad news, just as it is living with a steep hill on your two exit routes!
But CTC has told me that our auction tomorrow has been postponed a week, which is great news, and I think we'll try to get one car fitted with winter tyres next week, I'm fed up at being stuck with the aftermath of snowy weather.
Its snowed here all day, prob about 6" in total, but the freeze tonight will make the immediate roads lethal
Sent e-mails to buyers apologising for not posting today.
At least TV reception has returned0 -

Yes, I've been thinking of you over there.
Glad to hear that your TV is back &, obviously, internet is working. Strangely, the places over here that have had next to no snow have been the ones with the power & mobile signal issues.
Not that we can have a mobile signal issue as there's no signal ..... ever :rotfl:
The forecast gives iffy sleet/snow weather off & on until at least Monday. Hope yours doesn't hang around too long.0
