Just lightish rain here, so the thaw is heading your way folks! :D

No sign of chooks though. I will do a lir and take them some apples. :A

Congrats to your DD rhiwie. My DD went to Thailand and brought back some strange edible things, which are still packaged & waiting to be eaten, after we've consumed other DD's strange Indian things, bought 'out east' in Wembley. :o

Welcome to Molly  I stayed in Irvine for a while so know North Ayrshire quite well.

I'm in Ardrossan, it really is a small world!

I wish I had room for the ex race horse, unfortunately my highland pony is the only luxury I can afford, particularly after the £3k vet bill she cost me this summer
Its devastating the way people just discard animals, many of these guys still have so much to give as family horses. :(

I'm sorry. We have an ex racer here who was destined for meat already and. We are offered them regularly. It's gutting, no better that the greyhound situation, that the animal sports with most money leave their 'spent' animals abandoned so. As a 'he' his worth is minimal and it really has reached the point that they cannot all be given away. :(.

I hope this chap finds a home.....maybe ask the person offering if they have tried the few ex racer charities out there? Google will bring up a decent list but my guess is they might be bursting at the seams.

I thought it was a long shot-I don't even know the person who is trying to regime him for the owners. It's a friend who has recently moved to Australia who shared it with me. Such a shame that people buy animals they cannot take care of. Apparently his owners bought him 4 years ago when he finished racing but cannot afford to keep him now

Actually a highland mare we would have room for! I would really like one of the rarer colourings...liver chestnut with a silvery flaxen mane and tail, and a weeny bit over hieght ideally. I adore highlands and they are ideal ponies to have as a spare because they carry people shorter and taller than ideal.

I check the hps sales page every now and then but really ought to start contacting studs.

Lolly's dapple grey (almost white now though because of her age) and a little over height at 14.3 (so not actually a pony :P), but I learned on a little 13.2 highland mare called Mhairi who was liver chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail. There's a good stud near us, if you google Carlung highlands it should be top answer. Sorry I can't add a link but I'm too new so they think I'm spamming ;)

Don't worry, she's just a big pony. ;). It's more about shape than height peopleaccept now.....like Caspian horses and Falabellas are little.

Of course, with a highland you can always hog her and say 'cob' ;). They have the most beautiful faces IMO, the highlands, and eyes. I love them and miss them in my life.
