Well, I just did late check, and it's continuing to thaw here. Shrug. Who knows. We had snow earlier, but not to settle, and not a blizzard, just the promise of a decent snow fall then.....nada.

No roof sheeting - they forgot our order & none for us....

Kinda glad as I didn't feel up to the mega carry down the track - back & forth. It's really windy & a beautiful bright starry night sky. Cold, but dry.
  • Down to -1.8C here currently. Looking at the Weather Underground map it looks like it's reached Surrey so it's probably only a couple of hours away now. I should get to work okay, whether they'll shut the Dartford Bridge later and send everyone through the tunnels is another matter (I work in Grays, Essex). That wouldn't be pleasant on a Friday night!

I don't think I posted this yesterday because I was so furious, but a tin of white paint was spilt onto the new carpet which had been fitted on Wednesday. The final new carpet. The only one we had not replaced. It's a nut brown coloured carpet. Needless to say, I think it's ruined. So that's another 2 weeks' wages (in terms of rent payment) needed to cover its replacement. Sometimes I despair...

  • flipping heck Alex.... what a xx!!!!%%$£@ about the paint.. something you REALLY didn't need..

    Please be careful driving,

Well its snowing here, but the main road seems pretty clear at mo.. maybe its because the snow came later than they said, so it has had cars driving on it.. (pitty:o:D)

Where we live we have a 'snow line' so to speak about 4 miles away, basically it could be snowing really heavy there, and nothing here... so I dread to think what the conditions are like there.

Think I might put the tv on for the regional news

  • looks as though the m4 is closed between 36 - 37 Bridgend due to the snow

even though its snowing and sticking, its quite fine at times

    Taunton is looking bad

Not quite freezing and the road is open here. We have not much falling and about an inch lying. Off to let the hens out.....

Edit: Didn't realise it was so windy! Fed the sheep some haylage. They seemed more appreciative than the hens, which just kicked-off when they saw the snow, like it was my fault!:rotfl:
  • Hi all, I'm new here. It's very nice to meet you all, and I hope you don't mind me putting my tuppence worth in. I live in North Ayrshire and work in Glasgow, and apparently we seem to be the only corner of the map which isn't forecast for snow today! If I actually believed the weather man for one minute, I would be quite relieved. Don't know what it's been like where you guys are, but we have had rain with little rest since about April and the winter has been so mild, so I have been so thankful for the recent cold snap. It's drying the air and the ground out just nicely. My poor tree peony was beginning to waken up a little too early, and I'm sure the birds were sounding a little to happy! So heres hoping for another few weeks of crisp winter days and give the daffys a chance to waken :-)

    Welcome Molly!

4-5 inches of snow settled here, M4 shut just north of us, chooks wont come out of their coop even though the run is covered.

Edit: And the M4 traffic is being diverted onto the A48 which is now reported as blocked due to snow. So anyone driving East to West (and vice versa) in South Wales faces a long wait!

We're in for the day at least but we've plenty of food (and drink!), leccy is on and still got a couple of cu meter of wood so all good.

Welcome Molly, my new baby tree peony was awakening too.....I should have put a bucket over it, :(.

No snow man yet (what numpty suggested that?) because I have been clearing an overspill barn for horses as half their barn has snow in it. Now they have a choice of two halves of different barns.

I also seem to have sprained my wrist. Don't know how, Glad dh was here, I needed him to do up my coat (and bra) this morning as the stupid thing won't do want I want it too. It did let me muck out though and I shook out hay with my other hand, having got dh two push the barrows of it where I needed it.

The folk in the village are obviously bored & getting up to mischief this morning again....

    I don't know if it's just me, but I can't see anything?
