Alex, rhiw's reply to your pic query (think it's on the previous page now) shows the link I think you wanted deleted.

    Hope that makes sense!! :o

I have taken a gamble this morning and left the geese in the yard with the other birds. The risk is they free range, and wander quite far. Over winter they tend to stay close though...so I am hoping the weather convinces them it's winter and they need not go in search of lady geese.

It's a nice hard frozen morning. First morning this year that I have spread grit in the yard. The horses look a bit shocked but have plenty of hay and because it's dry still access to the fields......

    Friday looks fun, eh?

Just read this morning about horse and pig being found in burgers

    http://uk.news.yahoo.com/ireland-horse-dna-found-beef-burgers-203106586.html

I think this might be another reason why people might want to buy some land/smallholding, so they can rear and grow their own, so at least they know what they are eating.

    big discusion on it here

I think the main issue is that the factory don't know how it got there ( ilegedly) makes you think what else is in other foods:eek::eek:

Sold half a dozen eggs this morning. :D

No big deal, but it's a sign that the big post-moult lay-off is over.

Interesting property Alex, but as CTC says, you have to visit and get the feel of the location too.

Like rozee, we haven't seen anything locally and within our budget that would rival this place, though perhaps if we downsized on land.....

We've found it hard to down-size on space inside the house, although we haven't at all really, it's just bad space distribution with the way the bungalow's currently set up....hence the re-build.

All sorts of compromises give different results. Friends of ours would not compromise on 10acres + of land and freedom from neighbours, so they had to buy a bit of a wreck. I haven't dared mention that they're next door to an unoccupied property, and while it's been that way for many years, it seems obvious it will either:
    • deteriorate until it almost falls down
    • be occupied at some time in the future
    • be completely re-developed
I'm keen on being reasonably sure that no detrimental development can take place. (Wind farms etc notwithstanding) :)

Unfortunately, as we increasingly pay others to grow/rear our food we always run the risk of being supplied with stuff thats not on the label :(

    Brass monkey weather here.
