    Thank, that's really kind!

When I drove it back up the road to the garage the engine felt ok, but it almost felt as is there were baling twine round the axle and going under the back wheel. Tbh, I checked I had not run over someone's rubbish/recycling:o.

sounds bit like your bearings have gone awol.....

I liked what they did on Restoration Man, they seemed from the filming to have a glass of wine in their hand as much as a chisel or plane! But the quality of their work was lovely and no sign of skimped or bodged jobs.

But I'd have been the philistine who would have wanted conservation double glazing, nor would I have entertained the encircling water feature.
My BiL has been on a barn conversion project for about 4.5 years and he's just finishing off now. He has plenty of hand crafted oak, including a staircase, and there are some lovely oak windows too. However it isn't done 'old style,' nor did he feel it was necessary to do a rough plaster job or put in an olde worlde kitchen & bathroom.

After all, it's never had any kitchen or bathroom at all before. ;)

I like water features close to the house so that the wildlife can be observed, but just one in one place is enough.

It was heading for the big bin  i spotted it, but tip cant sell em cos no safety label, so i spoke nicely to the "very nice tip man"...and then i comandeered the guys who had it and arranged to get it outside the tip :D i followed him home to pick up the 3 cushions [guy had kept them for kneeling on in the garden... ] anyway he can date it to 1953 and thinks his parents had it prior to that...
it is immaculate and amazing ....im in love with it but will prob sell it as ££££s needed at the mo .:o
im delivering the big cupboard on sunday..... so few £££s then.
i think my forte is more in furniture and if i got my arseee in gear and emptied my BIG shed i could store lots of it...

it has been a lovely bright day today albeit tad nippy !
i wouldnt be at all surprised if it froze...
right got to go to the shop as forgot to get any food in the excitement of my sofa !!!!:rotfl:
We brought a ?circa 1930s Art Deco sofa back from Aus when we came home. We had a vague plan to upholster it, but it's been serviceably used for years, now in the garage in Yorkshire. It's beautiful in style, very faded and INCREDIBLY heavy because it's made from solid oak and steel springs. You should see the fellas' faces (red and puffed) whenever we've had to get anyone to help us move it.

Hmm. That's bad , isn't it? We are bracing to replace as its pretty creaky anyway. Worst buy ever I think. Pig in a poke, I have been niggling to try and get us to know what we wanted for the time we got an uneconomical repair but......

Quite nice day here albeit much colder than the 14oC of the other day. rained later in the afternoon.

Car sounds seriously expensive LIR. Hope you get it sorted quick & cheaply.

Alfie lucky you on the sofa. There's free listing W/E this W/E.

Just had prawns that were a freebie from neighbour who just about had a fatal allergic reaction to them the other week - these ones were frozen so we got all their seafood. Feel slightly guilty enjoying them so much when it took a near death on his part to acquire them!

    Evening :j

A very exciting couple of days here :j

There is definitely a real chill in the air here and I am sure the temps are due to drop further  It is strange as recently it has been so mild that we turned the heating off.

I do love this time of year as there is loads of time to think and reflect and PLAN :rotfl:

Ctc I love cup candles ( but if scented only of they have clean scents, like tea, or gardenia....or rose....all English gardens things...or, um, welsh ones. ;) Also, don't rule out pretty espresso cups......( personally I don't like sweet smelling candles but espresso cups would lend them selves to coffee and cookie and vanilla scents I suppose...)

    I hope you mean a de-humidifier! :rotfl:

But hang on, are you sure it's really damp and not condensation?
I know they have much the same effect, but one can be reduced by opening windows etc. Could the under-wardrobe space be 'aired' in some way? :)

Lir, it does sound wheel bearing-ish, and if it's not going right, that's more likely than just a stone wedged in the brakes, which can also sound horrible. :(

It is condensation, but we still need to remove the water somehow because if we open the windows round here, it's wetter outside! I'd love a clear, dry day when I could just open all he doors and scrub the place down, but it's just not happening. We o a lot of cooking that involves steam.... Pasta etc. It's a nightmare for making the problems worse, but it's also so bloody cold some nights that the last thing I want is to let the heat out. Some things are just going to be casualties of living in a caravan in teh wettest summer on record....

I wipe walls down when I can. Just have to do a bit more now.
