Mucky & miserable this morning :(
Glad we went for a walk yesterday when it was dry.
I think we may spend some of today digging "gutters" down the side of the lane to try to keep the running water off the tarmac as much as we can. That way, when it freezes, it may mean less problems.

Lovely mist and heavy drizzle today.

So another day in, good for business if not for the spirit.

House down the road has a well inside, which with groundwater very high has to be continually pumped to stop it from flooding the house. As a result the village road is swimming from the discharge pipe. Just hope they dont have a power cut or pump failure!

Alf, maybe your rope is an ornamental/competition ships bell rope. I'd be surprised if it saw actual use, just feels over-ornate.

Dave, at times you can never have enough toilets! And FWIW, it maybe that the extra en-suite is the best property value enhancer?

Itsme, dont envy you that job  Will post some piccy links shortly if you fancy a Marple instead :D

Itsme (and anyone else fancying a bit of sleuthing on this miserable day) here's one that I think is not easy at all, perhaps impossible :(

The regalia badges in the photo links are made by Tutills of London, suppliers to Friendly Societies. I think they are late Victorian/Edwardian.

The question is, what societies do they represent?

    I've been Money Tipped!
Dave, the rooms can be created as walk in wardrobes with plumbing in place for as and when/ new buyers if need be.

If its b and b IMO you need the three bathrooms, for a family home, IMO two baths for three beds is sufficient.

I don't envy me, either, Rhiw :rotfl: but, unlike the places where they think the council should be out clearing every snowflake from paths & roads, country folk have to do much of it themselves.
One day we'll stop paying that part of CT & end up being taken to court, no doubt.

I'll always have a go at a Marple :D I may not succeed because I'm sure you are just as search savvie & will have already looked but I'll have a go.

Well, if we want to have those en-suites, we have to go through an outside wall and build 7' onto the house, so they come in rather pricey.

However, we already have one which was due for removal, but if we kept that, I think we'd be well enough provided for. We'll also have another 'rustic' one in the barn. ;)

Mild and mizzling here too, but after 24hrs with no heavy rain, we're starting to dry out a bit. Top field feels firmer already. :)

Please can you let me know (if you can make it out, of course) the motto on the one with the shield containing the crescent moon, 7 morning stars & sun?

Hehehe - Not quite where I expected to find an answer but (for link 3 - http://www.geog.port.ac.uk/webmap/thelakes/photos/bot16.jpg

If you can open this .pdf then it gives many of the symbols shown on the various regalia.

Itsme, looks like you've triumphed again!

Now the motto. I've been staring at it for ten minutes and I think it says "philantropic order" mispelt maybe, could this be Ivorites?? Sashes were found near Carmarthen.

It's certainly very possible. It's definitely the right part of the world. Unfortunately, I know nothing about the Ivorites & can't find any visual of their regalia online although I found this about them.
Email a copy of the pic to the Museum or Library of Wales & ask them if it's the Ivorites.

I think that's all I can do, Rhiw. Hope it helps a little.
