That's why I asked.
This may help
It may be tough going with your frosts. Can you not bring it on indoors somewhere?0 -
Dry and dull here. Apart from reading my new gardening book my plan is to stay on the couch watching movies and eating sweeties. The garden will have to wait a bit longerTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Your link takes me to an error message
I would LoVe the pink plant your describe ( whoch I call something different again. I was suddenly hopeful there was a strain that lived here. I had it as a kid in a couple of places and it's fun.0 -
Odd. The link works for me. Does everyone else get an error?
I don't know whether the South American (& African?) variety would grow over here. I doubt it ........ but someone may know different.0 -
hello folks...... laughed my socks off at the ARK comment....youde think i had everything in my sheds the way you lot think....;) :rotfl::rotfl:
the canoe LIR had was of course the "port side" to any future ark....;):rotfl:
im ok, far more worse off than me...
mabel has now decided to greet me in the road each morningshe hears me coming [can hear a feed bin lid opening at 100 yards !] plods down [through the fencing
] to the road edge and then follows me back in, under the fence, has brekky then takes to her bed.....
i put a sign up saying "beware waterlogged pig MAY be on the road"....cars def slow down and people stop and ask if she's ok..:)
it is blowing a hoolie here and raining ! [look of surprise....NOT]
ive given up with regards the garden... woods around me are a swamp so nowhere for it to drain...so ITS ALL MINE, TO KEEP....:(
BUT....having just spoken to my cousin in alberta, who has 3ft of snow, -20degrees, makes me wonder how the heck everyone has managed over the centuries and that it is only the invasion of more housing, more roads, more wimps that find it intolerable to a degree now....
if it wont kill me then im just gonna get on with it. i dont give a monkeys wether or how long it will continue [im not unsympathetic to people who have encountered REAL tragedies i may add] but what will be will be, all the grumping in the world is NOT gonna change it..... i am gonna adapt as necesary and just bl**dy well get on with LIFE...0 -

Anyone's birthday on 9th or 15th?COOLTRIKERCHICK wrote: »when in January is choille day?....
Choille Day is the 15th! :j:j:j
As usual, I have a stack of cut stuff to burn out in the field, but I'll need a dry day or two to make that possible. It's been there since November.
This past January, it was so wet my choille bonfire was late by a few days.:(
Nothing will affect the sun's apparent travel through the heavens though!0 -
I have some xmas pennies that I would like to spend on things related to the garden
Now some of it is going to go on the wood and compost however I would also like some gardening clothes but I am at a loss as to what to get? Warm and dry things come to mind but I also need durable clothing.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Interesting. I wouldn't know what to suggest off the top of my head. I've never thought about spending money on new clothes for outside work - other than waterproofs for when we absolutely have to be out in rough weather - but that's more for in emergencies like digging trenches in the middle of the night in pouring rain :rotfl:
Usually it's just a case of throwing on old clothes which suit the job & are appropriate to the weather at the time.
I'd probably spend it on equipment or plants.0 -

just a suggestion for your future seed "bringing on"... i collect all the plastic containers i get [usually with cakes in em...;):D ] that are deep and with a lift /connected lid.. i use these for my seeds on window cills and every spot i can find. the advantage being that i close/open the lids dependant on temperatures. i make wee likkle holes for ventilation. but ive found them invaluable for transporting to thier plant spots too. muffin trays are brill as you get 4 deep pots:rotfl:
also i go to the charity shops and get fleeces to wear in the garden...at a couple of pound they can be wrecked and no big cost. usually have 2 zip pockets...
otherwise try and get a "gaming" waistcoat. they have mega pockets ,ideal for all the necesary bits and pieces and can go over thick top or a T shirt [one of those lightweight garments they wear in sunshine..;)] what size are you as im sure i have a spare in my wardrobe..????0
