  • Grim grey but not pouring here. Thank goodness!

Glad those ipn danger spots are ok. Will feel better when Alfie logs in to tell us she and mable and her animogs are not all in an ark she happened to have in a shed ;):) but home and dry or moved and safe.

We fou d a leak in our roof, dh is going to have to balance his way to the far ned of the attic over the insulation to stick a big bucket under it. The ceiling below has gone black with mould which i have not seen since we came here which makes me think it has leaked above there before, that ceiling is going anyway this next year, but the roof being redone is not on the plans. Might have to see if we can stretch to some leak patching now rather than a whole re roofing which I am certain we cannot afford.

I guess the only real plus side is that the roof leak is showing up now before your work is done, LIR. It would be heartbreaking to get everywhere finished & then find out :(

Loved the ark in the shed comment :D

The thing about Alfie is, if she didn't have an ark, and needed one, she would find one or make one. And if she made it it would have a generator for lights, and pretty curtains, shelves for some things for her and the animogs to enjoy looking at and probably some gorgeous curtains at the portholes too. And no one would be hurt in the making of it. :).

I can provide the ravens to send out. :D

Oh wait......... the s*d never came back for Noah, did it?
Typical ravens - too intelligent & with 'minds of their own'. It, obviously, decided it would have first pick (or should that be peck?) at the high places which showed up through the floodwaters ;)
  • Thought I'd share the (current - it can change daily) 'monthly' forecast for hereabouts .......

    27th - Periods of rain
    28th - A couple of showers
    29th - A chance of rain
    30th - A couple of showers
    31st - Showers
    Jan 1- Periods of rain
    2nd - Rain
    3rd - Rain
    4th - Periods of rain
    5th - Cloudy
    6th - Cloudy
    7th - Cloudy
    8th - Drizzle possible
    9th - Partly sunny
    10th - Showers
    11th - A couple of showers
    12th - Periods of rain
    13th - Rain
    14th - Periods of rain
    15th - Partly sunny
    16th - Clouds & sun
    17th - Cloudy
    18th - A couple of showers & thunderstorms
    19th - A couple of showers

:( I think it needs to be a lot drier than that to make any significant difference to the excess water.

    Anyone's birthday on 9th or 15th? :D

Well its pouring down again here, so another day of working online and its pretty busy in cyberspace. It is a consolation that it's a productive use of time but some sun would be really nice.

I think a landslip here is unlikely but a swallowhole is a different matter, though we'd have to be extremely unlucky!

No outdoor sowing planned this winter, will be sowing in pots/toilet roll inners to give things a head start in spring, and using black plastic to warm up the ground.

Alf, give us a shout to let us know both you and Mabel are fine.

Well it's not actually raining here today, nor is it blowing a hoolie - how weird & calm it seems. Hard frost & although we aren't getting direct sunlight it's bright. Off to feed the sheeps & then hopefully we'll manage to get some cladding on before dark.

    Keep the faith....
  • when in January is choille day? ( when the sun comes round)

i with you on Alfie... keep on coming on here for any updates on the water, same with sam...

the more the day goes on, the worse the rain ( and wind) is getting...

ITSME thats not looking good for January....

Raining and blowing again here now.

Whatever, in the ny I will have to do the apple tree pruning in the first two weeks (ready for Choille day)

The end of the long border I never got to has lots of nettles in it, and dh's odd little alpine plant needs moving (presumably better in this autumnal weather or spring proper as I missed autumn.)

I have been firing those late frosts again this year. After hoping this would be a better year for plums late frosts again would be a bit frustrating.

That's if everything doesn't rot away.

We were given a mimosa tree over Christmas, beautiful, dh loves them greatly, but......I wonder what it's chaces es are. :(. No idea where to best put it. I only have a spot with exposure to the north wind now.

    Which Mimosa is it, LIR?

Edit: Sorry, should have asked more clearly. Is it the pink proper Mimosa or what the Italians call Mimosa - the yellow Acacia?
