That's right, he's now had the real one and an ebay one. It's all so unfair!!!
Despite being well into their 20s, my kids insist on having their stockings, as usual. When they were children, they could open those as soon as they got up, so long as they didn't wake us. Now, it will probably be gone noon before the stockings are opened....:rotfl:
Quite nice here, wandering around with the church bells ringing in the distance. Everything's still soggy, but the barn didn't take on any more water yesterday, so my temporary drainage ditch worked.0 -
Good morning :j
DD is currently going through all her gifts at quite a pace trying to decide which one she wants to play with :rotfl:
I got a lovely book called Allotment Through The Year which tells you every month what to do so hopefully my question levels will reduceTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

But I was working very hard all last night and I'm very tired and need you to be gentle with me. So lets all sing "Rhiwie, the red-nosed Reindeer" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I have just harvested more oca, but the yield really isn't special.
My leeks are OK.
The parsnips are rather poor, but I underplanted huazontle with them, and they were late in to avoid carrot fly. Expected too much really!
Although our plot is not capable of going underwater, I've noticed a lot of drowned slugs about.;) Maybe it's too much to expect this high water table to do for the moles as well! :rotfl:0 -
Hi All,
Hope you're having a lovely day, even if its the second or third time round. DS2 sold all but 2 of his turkeys. so he's quite pleased. I know I don't contribute much but I do read and enjoy all aspects of this thread.
Right off to find the blackberry vodka, I know I hid it somewhere safe.

The kids have just exhumed their sloe gin, made about two years ago.
One of them doesn't realise yet that there will be no easy sloes to harvest here now, although the ones in our natural hedge will be safe, if much harder to reach!
Lucielle, you are consistent, so don't worry how much you write here.:A Good on your DS if he's sold most of his stock. We've gone for a huge chicken this year, having been pheasanted-out and unable to reach anyone with a guinea fowl.0 -
& there was me thinking I'd probably be the only saddo online on Christmas Day :rotfl:
I hope you've all had a good day (so far) & that it will continue to be enjoyable.
Merry Christmas one & all. :santa2:0 -
Well we have had t leave the table for a break.
Like manyi with critters 'lunch' for us is four a clock after an early doing of critters and showering off of mud, and a liquid brunch with nibbles.
I have not felt that strong today and after some unwise partaking of sparkling wine (sparkling is on my forbidden list) fou d myself unable to eat our starter, baked goats cheeses with cranberry sauce. Our main course was goose, stuffed baked apples, roast potatoes, Tiberius parsnips, sprouts, creamed celeriac. It was quite elegant and nice. We cannot eat cheeses or pudding so will have it later.
It's been a funny old year.
Merry Christmas all.0 -

Yes, the whole lot has been under water for 4 days now so anything that may have survived, I'm not sure I'd want to eat.
We've always got food in the house - it's the house flooding I'm really worried about. The only field not flooded in our village is the one right outside our front door and that's starting to get large swathes of pooling water on it. If that floods, we're toast. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
