  • MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

May 2013 bring you plenty of laughter, happiness and health.

We lunched at 2pm with roast turkey, potatoes, parsnips, butternut squash, carrots and peas with pigs in blankets and stuffing with chestnuts. For dessert we had home-made pear upside down cake and cream. Daughter is now doing a buffet tea for 7pm but is stressing over it and it's winding me up. I've done my bit and I'm meant to be relaxing! :rotfl:

Tomorrow we're going to my parents for the day so I only have to drive the 80-odd miles each way, then back to work on Thursday... boo hiss... oh well.

Oh goodness, if that's your garden Alfie.....then what's it like at the front? Glad mabel has a plan.

And sambucus, do you have an emergency place to go? Friends, family?

Midlands. Forecast rain. We are between 2 rivers and the garden backs onto a canal. Flood warnings on both rivers. Yay. :(

Ho humm! If it starts getting bad on the field then we'll move everything upstairs. Luckily we have high ceilings.

House has been here since 1880 and it's flooded before. And survived.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

We'd be evacuating the oldies in the road first...half of the people on our little bit if paradise are over 70 so we'd be sorting them out before we go anywhere.

I'm sure it will all be fine.

Of course, ip am sure you will help others, but after that, while the house dries out?

I think the best plan for dreamers is to plan for the worst and hope for the best. Having lived in places where things like hurracanes are standard, and having a parent from earthquake area, I am happiest when I have plans of what I would do....even though we rarely need them. It's the things one hasn't planned for that are frustrating and nightmarish.

Speaking of which......dh and I are thinking if trying to have a bath now.....the thing has stayed over sixty all day and the house is warm so...worth a go!

We'd probably get the camper filled with food and clothes and head for dry land!

Luckily - we do own a camper van. And we have plenty of family and friends around and about who would put us up.

Not that it will happen. It will all be fine. She tells herself. Whilst looking worriedly out the front window 50 times a day.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Oh dear, it seems some of you are suffering more than we are now.:( The river here is back within its banks again.

However, the week's forecast for the Midlands is somewhat better than it is for Devon or alfie's area.

I think we shall be letting the hens back into the other part of their orchard, which is drier. There may be no crisis, but it's not very pleasant for them, wading in mud.

Totally puddinged-out. It's taken most of the day & evening to prepare, cook and eat Christmas Dinner, with a 5 hour gap between courses. :o
