Yes, i think you need to look at security. With the oil and now this. How far, in minutes in the car, is ds now?

    Ruddy thieving g1ts!!
That sort of thing makes me so angry. Did you report it? Not so much in the hope that you'd ever see them again but at least the police would know the low-life are around in your area & might get a chance of catching them before anyone else loses anything or you lose something else.

Can you see your place clearly from the road or would it have to be someone who knows the area more than a passer-by?

    Oh Alfie. That's awful!

We lost an expensive trim off our car recently and at first thought it had been nicked. It really gave me the creeps and I was far more upset than if it had happened in the city as the community is so more face to face (did we know the person who'd done it?) Then we discovered it was a common flaw and loads of people had lost it. Phew! I'm just learning to trust humans again. I don't want it undermined.

CTC, great pic. I bet there's none stop planning chat in your house :D Glad you've got someone to guide you. We're feeling a little overwhelmed now, what to do, where to start. However, things are moving, albeit rather more slowly than I would like and I suspect that the building work will carry us along for a while.

Do you plan to live there anytime soon?

CTC - I'm late to the party.

    Massive congratulations.:beer::j:T:dance::grouphug::j

Brilliant, brilliant news. I'm so pleased for you.

Can some one PM me please although I may have seen the house before?

Alfie - how awful. I'm so sorry that you've lost your birds. It's always sickening when you're not really sure what happened.

Today we went to the European conference on diversity - in seeds, animal breeds etc - some wonderful speakers from as far flung as N. Africa & Hungary explaining their challeneges & the challenges of all small growers, crofters, etc.
Reps from all over Rare breed survival trust, Heritage seeds, Scottish potatoe growers - incredible. Even seed swap people from Ireland. I wish to hang I'd registered for the three day do now, but sometime senogh to take it all in & also to fit it all in.
Nice to meet up with crofters from the islands that I see at these things & hear their travails in getting there with all the ferries cancelled 'coz of the horrendous gales we are still having here.

Wonderful day all in all & topped off by nipping into my fav charity shop & getting Royal Hort soc encyclopedia of Gardening & Royal Hort soc encyclopedia of flowers & shrubs for £5 the pair.......
Made a poop of listing an ebay thing to the world & bought by an Austrailian & will cost me more to post than I'll make.....My own fault ...not been switched on with so much happeneing this week.

    CTC - here's looking at you kid:beer:

Very sorry to hear that alfie, I didnt know (read) about the oil going as well.

We had our magnetic business signs taken from our car a few weeks ago, it's a really small village and everyone knows each other, i know it's probably only kids, but it makes me very sad.

LIR's, chickens love ground elder, I used to use mine to keep it down around the currant bushes. I'm unsure whether to or not with the new lot, as they are in a self contained small house and run.
I've noticed with chickens that they are happy with what they have, if you show them better, they always want it.
So if I let them in a really big pen, they will always be unhappy when they have to go into the smaller one.
    It's a difficult choice.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
