Carers of adults really have my sympathy. At least with the children, it's hard, but it's only going to get "easier", at least in the intensity of the care.

My mother, aged 76, cares for her mother, aged 96. It's a great strain.

We have been looking for something like that for ages.

I am finding the wheelbarrows a lot some days and for shunting things yard to house it would be great.

    Not easy to find though.

NOW ...... i used to have one that came from a garden centre...i forgot to return it ;) BUT its worth asking the really big garden centres [if they use that type] if they have any that you can have/buy cheap that needs repairing...usually the wheels ...of which i have some, in fact i have 3 maybe 4 pairs of wheels in my shed :D:D

i know they were selling them at the auto jumble for about £90

It looks great fun, lucielle. Mind you, if I'd spent 6 hours astride a heavy horse I'd be walking with bow legs for a month ;)

so if i got this right, lets say I sold my ranch for 100k, I would have to pay 28% ( 28 thousand pounds) to the government????

If this was the case... we could easily 'split' the sale, as the main lot of land is a seperate strip of land opp the house and gardens..so in theory sell the house and 1/4 acre, and have the rest free, or for 1p;) would that work in theory, if they did bring the garden tax in?

The way I read it, the amount payable would depend on how much land over a hectare one has. The remainder would be taxed at 28% unless the tax man can be convinced it is a necessary part of the residence. If there's a stream or hedge dividing the land then anything on the other side becomes harder to justify.
That's how I read it anyway but I'm no accountant.
It's worked out on the price of the land (going up at present) not the property as such, I think.

Oh I'm feeling pleased with myself. The cooker in the caravan is rubbish and takes an hour to even pale-up oven chips. We were looking to buy an Actifryer but didn't want to part with £150 for one, especially since you could buy them for under £130 before the Christmas shopping season began. I put a post on Facebook seeing if any of my friends had an Actifryer they didn't want. Literally half a minute later I was offered one from a woman who I started my law degree with and haven't seen since 1988.

    People are lovely, eh?

I dunno what they'd do with our's. We've just extended the garden's curtilage, but I doubt it would be bigger than the limit here. The rest of the land, or at least the paddocks/fields are classed as agricultural...
