The missing bits have been delivered but.....the guy from the heating company.....a company one would presume are well used to building sites?, said it was too muddy to deliver them to the house, he had nice shoes on.....grrrr.

Typical British attitude, unfortunately. Just not geared-up for eventualities.

"But....it's the wrong kind of mud."

Outlaws have been so annoying this a.m. I need to go and cut something down!:( Rain has stopped. :)
  • The rain seems to have gone up the east side of the moor so we've had very little really. Definitely not as much as on many other days.

The road surface & cobbles are dry here but I see that there's flooding over towards Exeter & Bridgwater.

The next bout of heavy rain is due through tonight & all through tomorrow, though.:(
So we're going shopping today (ugh) & planning on a housebound day tomorrow
  • We have had wet AND windy. Not as windy as last year maybe, but still (hahaha) windy nonetheless.

I have my imaginary hobnail boots on for dealing with the heating people later, but it's so grim that after I have popped out this morning I might rifle through boxes and find my doc martins for less of the theory.

Just had nearly a fortnight of the same excuse from oil people. Once upon a time they used to bring large lorries, HIABs, cattle trucks & all sorts round the lanes & not bat an eyelid.

It might be stopping here now. We are about as unfold able as it gets in a valley, but my neighbours down the road sit on a junction that floods and that has stopped the traffic up my road. And from the otherside there is a stream and the road dips and that's flooded too.

No one lives there so that one can flood some more if it likes, :).

Major catastrophe here! MiL very distraught at being quite unable to reach John Lewis's in Exeter.

Apparently she's being given retail therapy and a hot chocolate in a local garden centre as I type, so all hope is not lost.....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

LIR - Our delivery problem wasn't due to floods but mud & leaves. 1-in-4 (& in places 1-in-3) hills mean gravity works well & practically everything - water, mud, leaves, rubbish - ends up at the bottom.

11.58am & the sun is out. Not a frequent occurrence here lately. Makes me more nervous about what tomorrow will bring. It's probably trying to lull me into a false sense of security. :rotfl:
  • cooked our firdt leg joint last night ( bone left in), but by the time I cooked it last night it was too late to eat it, so made prok and homemade apple sauce rolls for lunch today..

OMG!!!!!!!! it just melted in the mouth. I must admit when i took it out of the oven, it didnt look like the nicest joint.

Just sorry I didnt make myself more rolls:rotfl:

Not raining here, but it is cold...

Hope the alpacas that often feature in the pics are OK. I can hear the Taw very well, and our other river. Pete says that one usually gives him more trouble, but I bet he's having bother with both today.

No sign of the Outlaws. I've had a lovely, quiet and sunny morning, cleaning up the repaired deck of the mower and giving it the Hammerite treatment underneath.

    Shirtsleeves again. :D

Looking forward to more piggy joint tomorrow CTC.

Poo about the heating, lir. I'm still wondering who to trust.:undecided
